We fancied a good steak and Hotel d'Urville was recommended. What a GREAT experience we had! The ambiance in an old bank building was lovely. Beautifully lit with high ceilings, decent sized tables and enormous starched linen serviettes. We were welcomed immediately on arrival, shown to a well placed table and water and menus provided. After much debate we chose our wine which was recommended by our waitperson, Rachel. It was devine. A complimentary appetizer, salmon pate with home made crispy croutons, followed whilst we made up our minds on the food. Whitebait fritters entree ........... OMG........... The best we've ever tasted! Light, delicious & stuffed full of the poor little critters. Then the steak. Just the BEST ever! Perfectly cooked, tender and succulent with the most tasty accompanying selections imaginable. Stuffed mushrooms, bernaise sauce, gorgonzola & walnut butter and more ............... And the veggies! Perfection. A choice of steamed or roasted and of the way the potatoes were done. Then desert. Yes, we could just fit it in! Another OMG! A chocolate creation with vanilla bean ice cream. We thoroughly recommend this gorgeous place. It has deservedly won best beef and lamb awards each year since 2006.
