“Cheery & comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

All we needed for an overnight stay whilst travelling around. Host was very accommodating and gave us a warm welcome. Room clean, comfortable and quiet though I could hear the neighbour snoring! A little out of town but not a problem.

Room Tip: Ask for room at back of complex if poss. We had 14.

Cheery owners make the difference at this out of town motel. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The grounds have attractive shrubs that screen the rear units and there is a small pool and swing set for the kids. Our studio unit had dishes and cutlery so we could prepare a meal. It's a short drive to the city for an Irish pub dinner at the Criterion hotel.

Simple motel but clean and simple. Excellent owners who just seem to care - we really appreciated that. It's well located and unpretentious with comfy beds.
Service is the key and this couple know how to provide it.

Thanks.

Friendly owners.
Nice neat rooms. Not super fancy but neat clean and tidy.
A good little kitchen (modern and well equipped) helps you cook for yourself quite easily.
The motel was full when we were there and the units were nice and quiet.
Great place to stop on a self-drive holiday.

this motel is a wee way out of town but has shopping centre nearby, most of the units are down the back away from the traffic on the main road,we had a 1 room unit which is all we needed for the 1 night, bed comfy, table and chairs,2 lounge chairs which are great after a day at work, the units are clean and the hosts friendly,if you don't want noise you need to get a end unit as the 1 we had we were in bed and could hear the people either side going about there ways doors on cupboards being shut dishes being shifted around and talking,so walls are very thin a bit of an update would help but fine for a 1 night stay

Room Tip: end room down the back

Commodore has all your basic needs for an overnight stay if you don't want to head on south immediately from the ferry. A little out of town on the road to Nelson, but quite convenient. Facilities quite Ok for an overnighter. My unit was at the back, well away from the busy road - it might be noisy at the front.
