“A step into the past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

Its a short walk from the Lake cafe, but the walk from there to the lake where you are able to see a mirror image of the mountain range kinda gives you that feeling of " this is how god built the world for us" or "this is how it is meant to be"

Its quiet and peacful walk, like most parts of new zealand, but the fact you can see a mirror image of the mountains, without even so much as a ripple or wave in the water. Its like time really really stops here.

Its a great attraction, not to be missed. Hopefully like other parts of New Zealand, it will be here for a longtime, untouched & unspoilt by progress of man. Its nice to know there are still such places in the world.

“Beautiful views during early mornings!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

This is a must visit place if you are in the area. Just a few miles away from the franz glacier, the walk around the lake is very pleasant and provides a whole new atmosphere compared to the glaciers.
Ensure you allot a couple of hours and do the entire walk around the lake. The flora and fauna are quite unique and early mornings give you beautiful reflections of Mt cook. Note that this is not a walk around your normal lake. It is surrounded by temperate rainforest with frequent views of the lake.

“Beautiful views on a lucky day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

The loop around the lake is a pleasant walk with stunning views of the reflections of the snow capped Mt Tasman and Mt cook. However on a windy day the movement of water spoils it all. On the whole a walk hat even people with low fitness levels can endure. Good photo stops and places to sit in peace and enjoy the beauty and serenity in peace for the ardent nature lovers,

“Not exactly a walk around a lake”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

I don't know why this is so popular, granted, if you get great weather the views to the mountains are stunning, apparently. But it's not really a walk around a lake - it's a walk through temperate rain forest. For one and a half hours. Now, don't get me wrong, temperate rainforest is really great, and the paths are well maintained and there are a few signs describing the native trees. But the odd glimpse of the lake through these trees doesn't really qualify it for a lakeside walk.
The shop girl said I should have been there early morning. Maybe that's the answer.

“Nice walk with lots of information”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

No matter what the weather (which is mostly rainy in this part of NZ), I would recommend this walk to all nature-lovers. There is lot of information about the local vegetation at the visitors’ centre as well as all along the trail, and lots of photo opp.
