“Excellent superior accommodation for singles to families & fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2009

We were amazed at the size of the double rooms (length & width) with two queen size beds, desk/work area, good comfy seats, a kitchenett that was closer to a full kitchen and a great bathroom, everything with modern fixtures & fittings, still with enough space to move around, kids to play and spread out. The rest of the hotels facilities including pool & spa were also very good. The rooms were also quite for being in the inner city with the normal hussel and bussle that goes on. Reception and customer service was excellent.

The only things to be aware was that as we stayed straight after new years the hotel resturant was only open for breakfasts (which was very good) and not lunch or dinner. However as Cuba street has so many close by cafes, resturants and eatery's it was great to try some where new each day. Also don't expect fab open views as it's inner city and not a full high rise so the views can be to the rooms/apartments across the way or other city areas however you can still get to see the sky and whats going on which is cool. One tip concerning parking is that there is normally plenty of free parking from 6pm onwards on the rear enterance street or even upper Cuba St so we did not have to pay for the hotel reserved parking.

We have travelled a lot as a couple and with our children (2yrs & 4yrs) and would rate this as one of the best for accommodation and value. The close by shopping is also excellent. Since staying in Jan 09 we have returned as individuals on business and have recommended this place to a number of friends on business and leisure and all have had similar excellent experiences.

My wife and Teenage daughter had the pleasure of staying 1 night in the Comfort hotel, we had interconnecting rooms, we then moved across to the Quaility for 3 nightd ,Wow what excellent szed rooms these were. I was absolutely amazd on the support of the staff, In actual fact after the rooms were serviced a staff member came back to to if we were happy with it. I cannot fault this hotel. The location is at the top end of Cuba Street and it is easy to get to other interesting places in Wellington. So thanks for the opportuity to stay.

Stayed here for business for one night. Pretty hard to get past the bathroom door handle being covered with semi dried blood. Yuck. On the positive side, Cuba St is an awesome location (and close to my place of business), which is why we chose to stay there. Qualmark (NZ Tourism's rating agency) rate this place at 4+ stars. Not sure what Qualmark is thinking? Apart from the obvious cleaning issues (and the carpet in our room was also pretty stained) there is no mini bar (you have to order mini bar items from reception). Their room service consists of heat and eat meals which you chuck in the microwave. Their drapes (although very stylish looking) don't actually meet, so you get a lot of streetlight in the room the whole night. Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise coming in from other rooms. There was also ongoing street noise which meant very little sleep. Cuba St and its surrounds are very noisy at night (I lived there for several years so know this by experience!) so I was surprised to see the hotel didn't appear to have double glazing to help with this. This place opened in 2007, so it's fairly new. Unfortunately it's already pretty tired, and is starting to resemble the backpackers it was in a previous incarnation. I'd hate to see what the Comfort Hotel (next door...same company) is like! If you're looking for great central location in Wellington, I'd suggest you go for some of the better hotels around Courtney Place and the CBD...and then take a walk up Cuba for your spot of culture!

Stayed for one night.. For the price the size of the room is great and location close to everything.Flat screen tv on the wall, fridge that is available for use and not full of over priced expensive mini bar drinks. Kitchenette if you want to use it, but there are plenty of places to eat near by. Shower was clean but the water pressure wasn't so good, compared to the last time we stayed at this hotel. Maybe it depends on what room you get, as it wasn't as full on this time. That aside it was a quiet room and we never heard any other guests. $15 to park the car at the hotel car park, not an issue as my partner was on nightshift and was able to use the park for free in the morning. We asked for a late check out, so he could get some sleep and they were happy to oblige, well 11.30 was the latest.

Reception is a bit hit and miss. Checking in we had a friendly guy, but checking out the girl gave the impression she couldn't care less. No asking did you enjoy your stay, and it wasn't like there was a queue of people waiting, there was only me. If they worked a little bit harder on their customer relations, maybe they could learn something from the cleaner who was very friendly this would be a great all round experience. A few other people we know have also stayed here and had the same reception experience.

Would we stay here again, most definitely. Don't let reception put you off, what is a great priced hotel and a great location.

I stayed one night at the Quality Hotel Wellington. I was surprised by the sheer size of the room we were given. The sense of space and light was astonishing. The rooms were very quiet and I did not hear any street noise or other guests. The inclusion of a small kitchen made preparing my own meals very convenient.

For the price and it's location in Wellington I would have no hesitation recommended the Quality Hotel Wellington.

Cuba Street is a good location -- walking distance to most everything, and lots of dining options. The rooms here are fairly good size, with refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. The bad was that our room was on the other side of the hotel, and had no view whatsoever. Overall, not a bad choice, but probably would explore other options next time.

I attended a conference in August that was being held at the Quality Hotel Wellington and my colleague and I shared a room for 5 nights. With one small exception the hotel was perfect. The hotel location on Cuba Street is right where you would want to be in Wellington and the hotel decor is lovely. Our room was immaculately clean, very spacious, and the staff could not have been more helpful or nicer. We also had booked a room with kitchen facilities which was a huge benefit for long days.

The only minor issues would be 1. the shower had the weirdest modern design flaw - at least half the water went all over the bathroom and all the towels were needed on the floor to mop up the water - strange but true, and 2. the in-room internet set-up was the strangest I've ever seen in a hotel.

Those two issues would not keep me from staying again. It was wonderful and very reasonably priced. We loved it.
