“A must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

Extremely popular and therefore often difficult to get into. Think of reserving ahead of time. Ask for a table near the window so as to enjoy the view over Oriental Parade and Wellington city.

“Best meal we had in NZ and we're REALLY into food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

We sat in the " second row" of tables but it was already dark and we weren't there for the view! The service was impeccable. We shared a bottle of wine and had plenty of courses and the bill was over $200. For such an amazing meal, it was completely worth it. There was one couple who got engaged and another table celebrating a 50th birthday while we were there so it seems like a special occasion place. The dining room is small so we could overhear the other tables although it wasn't by any means rowdy. Refined perhaps, not rowdy. We were in NZ for a month on the North and South islands but this was the best meal we had. The venison medallions were tender, every sauce was perfect with whatever main thing it came with- seafood, meat or vegetables. Even the dessert was off the charts. If we ever come back to Wellington, we will book a table in advance.

“Dining with an amazing view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

If you want to treat yourselves to something a little fancy then you can't go wrong with The White House. Exceptional food, great service, wonderful atmosphere and arguably the best view from a dining area in Welly.

“Two or even three stars of Michelin's - hence a TOP RESTAURANT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

The White House was our choice of New Year's Eve of 2012: Just great! The best restaurant that we've experienced this time in New Zealand.
Extremly well presented meals and very nicely combined variations of tastes. In best French tradition. Your palate gets spoiled.
Our friendly waiter was a young man with a good sense of humour. Service has been perfect.
Overlooking the bay the restaurant offers excellent views and makes you feel at ease.
As they say in the famous Michelin Guide (for exceptionally good restaurants in France): worth a detour!

“A special place for an intimate meal or larger celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012

My husband had a major birthday last night and we shared it with 18 special family members and friends at a memorable dinner. Every menu choice was beautifully cooked and presented, and the service was impeccable. For newcomers to The White House, seriously consider the crab ravioli, scallop or pork belly starter and the duck or lamb rack main. There is small but varied selection of desserts, and even the sorbet is specially presented. Expensive, but well worth it.
