Three friends and I visited Boulcott Street Bistro earlier this week for lunch. The food was up to the usual high standard, but the customer service absolutely blew me away.
Here's how you do customer service:
We had planned the visit purely to sample BSB's "T-Rex" burger, winner of the Burger Wellington competition last year, and a bit of a legend in its own right. Earlier in the day we had called and reserved a table for lunch, and let the staff know we'd be having the burger (necessary because demand is high, and ingredients can run out).
Unfortunately, somehow our reservation was lost, and when we turned up the kitchen was out of ingredients for the burger. It looked like we were going to be disappointed...
However, the maitre d' couldn't have been more apologetic. Luckily he did still have a table for four available, which we took advantage of. He then offered us any mains on the menu for the same price as the burger would have been - all are usually more expensive. I actually had their $40 fillet steak, which I would have been happy paying more for, but no - still $20.
After a good meal, we went to leave, and as a final gesture the maitre d' asked the four of us to return in the near future (with a few days warning) and the restaurant would do us four burgers specially, and at their expense. Awesome.
Now THAT'S how you do customer service!
