“Wellington's best accommodation by far!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2012

Stayed 4 nights in the refurbed and very friendly Rydges Wellington and was incredibly impressed. My partner is a real stickler for quality, service and style and we certainly found all 3 at Rydges. The staff are wonderful and can't do enough to assist you during your stay, the bar and restaurant were superb - great cocktails and delicious breakfasts, and the decor/design and overall presentation of the entire venue was impressive. Our Executive suite offered kitchen and laundry facilities, a very comfy living area with all the latest technology and a very spacious bedroom with ensuite. Rydges is a just a couple of short blocks away from the funky food and club district of Wellington and is central to all the must-sees, like the Te Papa Museum and the Houses of Parliment etc. I would recommend Rydges to anyone visiting Wellington.

Room Tip: The Executive Suites allow plenty of room to stretch out and are perfect if you intend to stay for a...

I selected this hotel because it is a 10 minute walk to the Bluebridge Ferry Terminal and also close to Te Papa museum. I was not disappointed. We were given a very nice room with great city views but with a west exposure which heated up while we were out in the late afternoon. The airconditioning never caught up with the heat generated by the sun. We did call for help and the staff came right up, but he could not get the AC to work any harder than we could. We were at this hotel on a Sunday and didn't find many places to eat dinner, so we ate at the hotel and it was good food and service. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff.
We walked along the waterfront to the Te Papa museum and, because it was a Sunday, there was a lot going on including a Farmers' Market where we bought a few things for the early morning ferry crossing and put in the fridge in our room. Te Papa is the big national museum and I would recommend it. Free admission is a plus. We were jet lagged, so we did not try to see too much.

Stayed recently for five nights to do lots of tourist things in Wellington. On arrival we upgraded to an executive suite which we highly recommend as the two rooms meant we could stretch out. Equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, lovely decor, comfortable beds, great views and very comfortable couch. Good pool and spa (though hot) exercise room very small, but they do advertise that. Food at restaurant was lovely. Did have to ask for tea towels and dishwashing liquid but that was the only downfall. Fully recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up. If wanting a view of the harbour ask for it.

Well equipped kitchen. Stay here quite often two years ago for business trips when it was called the Holiday Inn. Nothing has changed. Cups were a bit dirty though. Other than that nothing else to complain.

We only stayed 1night and needed a hotel close to the railway station for an early morning start. Reception was efficient and the room very comfortable, being good value for money. The hotel is a short walk to the harbour where there is quite a choice of places to eat. The only thing we thought a little odd was that there was a small cooking area with hob and microwave, but pans.

This hotel had everything we needed for a weekend stay. The restaurant served an outstanding buffet breakfast and the evening meals were of a very high standard (the coulis on the sorbet was one of the best things I've tasted - ever!!) The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, modern and very well equipped. Great selection of in house movies to cover most tastes. will definitely be returning here at our next opportunity.

This hotel was what all good quality hotels should be like. Clean, comfortable and exceptional staff. This was the first time I have stayed here but it will not be the last. It maybe a little way from the main clubbing area but hey a walk does you good.
