“Noisy and bright at night”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

The rooms come with "free ear plugs". Enough said? The building is on an alley which is used at night to service the real hotels. Garbage trucks and service vehicles crash and bash their way up and down it all night. There are 2 parking ramps next door which are brightly lit, and tires screech as the cars wind their way up and down. If your company puts you up there, you may be left wondering what you did wrong! On the plus side, the people working there are lovely.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay. I’m sorry your experience was marred by a late night traffic accident directly across the road from our hotel. I’m sure you appreciate that this event was unexpected and out of our control. As we are located right in the heart of Wellingtons CBD from time to time some noise is to be expected therefore we provide complimentary ear plugs for all guests. Our Hotel is on a quiet street nestled in between two other hotels so road noise is not usually an issue. Our newly refurbished rooms have top of the line black out drapes which (when closed) block out all external light. Thank you for your positive feedback regarding our staff, I’m pleased you found them to be lovely. I hope you will come back when in Wellington for business as I would like to personally ensure your next stay meets your expectations.
Kind regards,
Natasha Pennell

We spent two nights at this hotel and it ticked all the boxes for us. The location is exceptional and a two minute walk sees you very much in the heart of the Wellington shopping district. It is so handy to all the attractions we were interested in and there is a supermarket nearby which has all the supplies a traveller would need. The room itself was not overly spacious but one probably wouldn't expect it to be in such a central location. We had a few problems with the height of the pillows on our first night but when we looked next morning, there were other pillows available much more to our liking. Our apartment had a washing machine\dryer which was very handy. Parking was available at $15 per day which for central Wellington seemed reasonable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Thank you for your positive affirmations regarding your stay with us. We do have an exceptional location, right in the heart of Wellingtons CBD.
In our studio deluxe apartments we offer two types of pillows to ensure a good nights sleep. After taking note of guest feedback all of our hotel rooms now contain brand new washer dryer combos which we provide washing powder for so I'm pleased you made use of this added facility while you stayed. We look forward to your next visit.

Kind regards,

I was stuggling to find accommodation in Wellington for a girls night that wasn't expensive - and luckily came across Gilmer. The process was so easy, from booking, reserving a carpark, checking in etc. The room was a great size, very clean and even had the perfect number of wine glasses! The central location in the CBD is great, and is far enough away from Courtenay Place that you don't hear any noise from late night revellers! Would highly recommend - thanks team at Gilmer Apartment Hotel :-)

Thank you for your review, I'm happy to hear we were able to accommodate your every need for the hens night! Our two bedroom apartments are a great size for getting ready for a girls night. I'm happy our lovely reception staff arranged for extra wine glasses as they knew you had a couple of extra people popping in for a vino.
We hope to see you back for your next occasion.

The room and the bathroom were clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. The location of this hotel is very good. Parking is easy, but there is a charge. The only "not so good factor" with this hotel is that the personnel are present only for a rather limited time, certain hours of the day and this may complicate the arrival and the departure of the guests.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of our Apartments. I'm pleased you found our brand new beds comfortable and enjoyed being located in the heart of Wellingtons CBD. Our reception is open Mon - Friday 7.30am - 8.00pm Weekends and public holidays 8.00am - 5.00pm. We have extremely robust after hours procedures that ensure all guests are aware when they book of our opening hours. Guests are able to call for assistance any time day or night and we always have a staff member on site in case of emergency of accidental lock outs. Upon booking confirmation we email guests our check in procedures so after hours check in is a breeze. We are also not listed on this site as a hotel as we do not have a 24 hour reception.
I'm happy you enjoyed all other aspects of your stay and we hope to welcome you back in the near future.

Kind regards,

The building is in Wellington's CBD so is very close to many attractions (a visit to the Te Papa museum should be a priority) and shops. Our arrival on Wellington was delayed by a broken down Intercity bus fromRotorua - 10 hours instead of 7. Reception was closed and it took a bit of time to gain access. Room was very comfortable with a very large bed and good apartment facilities. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that the bathroom was looking a bit tired.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at our hotel. I’m happy to hear you found our location super and you appreciated our brand new beds!
Our reception hours are 7:30am – 8:00pm on weekdays and 8:00am – 5:00pm Weekends & Public holidays. These hours are advertised on all booking websites and we advise at the time of booking that afterhour’s access must be pre arranged. We understand some guests do not read all of the information at the time of booking so we email all guests at the time of booking then again 24 hours prior to arrival to arrange access. We then call on the day of arrival also if we have received a N.Z phone number on the booking. We have a free call number which is answered after hours by an assistance team and we have a staff member on site at all times in case of an emergency. I’m pleased our afterhour’s assistance team were able to promptly arrange access for you upon your arrival.
We look forward to your next stay with us when you return to Wellington.
Kind regards,
Natasha Pennell

Walked 50m and down 2 floors in a nearby building, you are on Lambton Quay. Its also near Vic University. I stayed near Te papa the last trip and I feel its more convenient being around this part of town. There are more shops and restaurants here. The room I stayed was clean and basic. No air condition, so can be a bit warm during the day during summer. Its not too bad and a small fan is provided. Front desk staffs are polite. Not much else to complaint or praise about. I picked the place due to its price and location....it met my expectation.

We arrived early, but this was no problem. Also they were very flexible in use of the parking facilities. The hotel was clean, comfortable, well equipped and excellent value. The room was slightly on the small side.
The hotel is in an excellent position, a short walk from Lambton Quay, but very quiet, although esr plugs were provided. There are no views, the building is in an area of multi storey car parks and high rises.
I will certainly stay again.

Thank you for sharing your experience with other trip advisor members!
I’m pleased to hear we were able to assist with an early check in, whilst this is not always possible we endeavor to check guests in as soon as their room becomes available. When we are unable to provide an early check in our reception staff are always happy to store luggage for guests and provide recommendations on activities to fill the time in until check in at 2 pm.
Thank you for mentioning how quiet you found our location, we really are in a perfect spot, away from the main road but so close to wellingtons key attractions. We look forward to welcoming you back again in the near future.
Kind regards,
Natasha Pennell
