“Excellent Apartments and Good Price for Wellington CBD.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2008

The recently renovated Lambton Court Apartments are fantastic value in Wellington. The apartments are very spacious with very swish looking with mint green leather lounge suites (not really comfortable but hey they look great!!). The bed is in an alcove (you can close screen doors around the bed) and the lounge/kitchen area is large with good sized fridge, dishwasher, all bits and pieces for the kitchen, computer connection if you need it etc. Bathroom is nice (no bath). My only criticism is that it’s a bit cold in winter although an oil heater is provided (no electric blanket, no heater in bathroom). Free guest laundry with washing machine and dryer, and access to a gym for $14NZ a day. It’s up the Wellington Station end of Lambton Quay, with cafes and pubs nearby, and close to the airport flyer bus ($5.50 from that location). It’s very much an ‘apartment’ rather than a ‘room’ which is nice when you are staying for a few days. I note a few comments people have made about the blinds and do agree that they are thin and let in too much light. On the plus side it gets you out of bed early to get exploring the wonderful city!! I like to sleep with silence and was not too bothered by noise, even though my apartment backed onto The Terrace, which is the road adjacent to Lambton Quay. Staff are friendly and helpful. I know who some of you mean about the older woman there, but she was lovely to me. I would definitely stay again.

  • Liked — Very spacious, luxurious and clean.
  • Disliked — A bit cold in winter.

Was a travel agent myself for over 20 yrs., so got around a lot during that time. As I was to spend 3 nts. in Wellington, I consulted TripAdvisor for existing reviews. Sounded OK, so I went ahead via Wotif. ($100 p/nt.) I find it difficult to fault this hotel, only 9 mths old.
As I arrived very late, (after 1am) Reception was closed, but they left my key out for me.
Apartment was large, spotless to the "enth" degree, a well stocked kitchenette with c/b'fast supplies awaited, queen-size bed was comfy, heaters were on, etc.etc.
The only matter I found slightly at fault was that the blinds on the 3 large windows overlooking The Terrace did not completely block out the light emitting from the buildings across the road, thus leaving the room in eternal twilight when I was trying to get some much needed sleep. I'm told this is being reviewed.
Staff were VERY courteous, both cleaning & front-desk alike, & looked after my bags for a time 'til it was ready for me to take a shuttle to the airport .They also arranged this, & followed it up. Shuttle was about $15, half the cost of a cab.
Finally, the location is very central, with access via both The Terrace, & Lambton Quay, right in the CBD of Wellington.

The 2 bed apartments are clean and spacious with 2 large bathrooms, located in a redone office building. But there are a few issues:

-> no one thought to put in soundproofing from outside - Lambton Quay is a busy street with lots of buses and pubs on weeknights and we could hear everything. When a bus would go by all conversation would have to stop. Could not hear any noise from other rooms so at least they got that right.

-> the blinds covering the windows are so thin that once the sun is up so are you + they had the "bright" idea of putting glass panes in the bedroom doors so that the light comes right in from the living area.

-> parking is an issue - but this would be the case for most city centre properties.

-> The filter in the dishwasher had not been cleaned for a while and the smell was revolting when we opened door. We ended up rewashing all the dishes by hand as who knows what they had soaked in.

All up a nice apartment in a central location let down by a few easy fixes and not really worth the amount the ask.

  • Liked — Location, size and cleanliness.
  • Disliked — Lack of soundproofing

The room was very clean and after a 7 days of business meetings it was my last night in NZ. The trip however was stained by an old withered hag at the checkout desk who was rude and consequently i wont reccomend this place to anyone and have told my business contacts not to stay here at all because of HER. Just a tip; Treat all customers the same regardless of looks because they pay your bills and DONT hire your mother on the desk......

There are not as many small hotels in Wellington as you find in Sydney - not by a long shot! After a few turns around the city centre
hauling luggage - spotted Lambton Court serviced apartments. More than you would expect - very spacious and with full amenities - reasonable price and good location.

  • Liked — full house facities, good location
  • Disliked — lobby area

Lambton Court is an excellent place to stay when you visit Wellington.

Their bathroom is spotloss, and the hot water is very strong and steady - taking a shower felt like soaking in a hot tub. The bed was so comfortable and warm that I almost couldn't get up. The kitchen was very modern, everything I needed was supplied and clean. The leather couch was comfortable, the LCD TV with SKY was fantastic, the lighting was just right and the style of the whole apartment was just so posh and elegant. They even let me check in and out late without an additional charge.

There are two little things that I think Lambton Court could work on:
1, supply a pen + a note pad
2, the staff are helpful but not as friendly as they could have been. Having a smile, acknowledging and greeting the guests could really take them much further in the tourism industry.

Overall rating from me: 4.5 out of 5
Thank you Lambton Court

Good apartment hotel. Great facilities and good location. It is down the far end of Lambton close to the behive. Very clean and good facilities including LCD TV, and kitchen. Service was excellent, and allowed us late checkout of 4pm... without extra charge.
