Sunny day visit only as it can be a bit exposed if blustery. And try not to go during school holidays as it gets quite popular.
It's a sheltered bay, a bit of a sandy stretch, with rockpools and bird life either end. Water is always inviting. Great views across the natural harbour entrance to the Rimutaka hills. Nothing quite like a Scorcharama-lama-dingdong full breakfast from the cafe. Or if you can't face it on a hot day they do a mean milk shake. And the staff have a great sense of humour.
