“a great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

everything about our stay at the Bolton got a top rating from us - the room was beautifully appointed , the bed was very comfortable, room blissfully quiet and we had afternoon sun to bask in next to the windows - a nice touch was the i pad for hotel information, tv listings, etc. our room rate included breakfast - and it was one of the best hotel breakfasts we have had! the museli was a triumph on its own.

First trip to Wellington , stayed three nights and went to a couple of concerts Flew in from Christchurch , got a taxi from the airport Reception staff helpful and efficient Suite was great - separate sitting area , view over city , well furnished , extremely well equipped including a complete kitchen with a washing machine - very useful on a long trip ! Good attention to detail - detergent provided for clothes washing , fresh milk in the fridge , drying rack for clothes Very quiet indeed up on the 14th floor Speedy internet included , a very comfortable bed, and staff were friendly and efficient throughout my stay Didnt get to try hotel breakfast , difficult to get out of such a comfy bed , but plenty of places to eat five minutes away in the city centre Good location in the more corporate end of town , but only about twenty mins walk to the more bohemian charms of Te Aro Wellington is very attractive , well worth a good exploration , the Bolton is an excellent hotel and is highly recommended

Room Tip: My 14th floor room was very quiet

What a hidden gem. Loved the room, nice, airy, and spacious. The staff were exceptionally friendly, specifically the waiter in the restaurant, Alan (I think) and the night desk manager, Dave. The best buffet breakfast we have ever had, and we've travel extensively. The amenities in the room were just the best. The iPod mini's were a nice touch too, especially when they double as a clock in each bedroom. A lot of thought has gone into the planning of this hotel and I really want to praise the owner/s forethought and design. Well done, we'll be back next time. Thanks again.

Room Tip: Must have breakfast in the restaurant.

Bolton Hotel in Wellington is one of the most friendliest and quality facilities. The breakfast as well as lunches and dinners are serve from the restaurant that depict the original history of New Zealand.

Room Tip: Go for rooms on 9th floor they are large with nice view

Hotel handy to heart of Wellington. Self contained, plenty of space within room that accommodates four people. Clean and well presented. Hotel staff make you feel welcome. Good place to stay. Unfortunately we only had one night at this hotel before leaving New Zealand

3rd of 4th stay here, and got a tiny converted room at the parliament-end of the hotel. They are designated "A". Triangle shaped room that was less than half the size of standard rooms on previous stays. Pretty disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms marked A's are the cupboards....awful things.

Thank you for your review and comments. A room upgrade is not an entitlement and we can only upgrade if we have availability. The room you booked is our smallest room type, well appointed and designed for short stay guests.

On arrival we were offered a suite for a $30 up-charge but it included a $30 voucher for the hotel dining room so we went for it. It was a clean, spacious, modern suite that had a fairly complete kitchen with a dishwasher and a clothes washer/dryer. Good value and a nice, comfortable bed.
We used the dinner voucher with good success too. (a separate review)
