“Clean, comfortable, but spartan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

This was a necessary place for us to stay in order to catch the early morning ferry to South Island. We had a studio that was fine, but it was spartan. The bathroom's shower is surrounded by a curtain so the floor was covered with water by the end of a shower. Atrium may be loud at times, but I did not notice anything out of the ordinary. Not bad, just know what you are getting.

I've stayed here a couple of times so far. it meets my needs - the room was clean and well set up.
I had no problems with irons, TV or anything else. The daily servicing always tidied the room and replaced towels etc.

Yes the Central atrium is noisy, but with the door closed its not onticeable at night. I didnt use the parking, but i did make use of the gym and its a great facility to have next door. it isnt the best place to stay in Wellington but I think some of the recent reviews are quite harsh.

We had a two bed room apartment. The main bedroom was next to the lounge, was separated by a 'room divider'. The bathroom had two entrances, none of the doors locked. The iron was filthy and did not work. The hairdryer was faulty. Clean towels were not replaced. Oven was filthy. Parking provided, at the back, narrow entrance and small parks. Not recommended.

Donna had a good opinion ... correct, the central atrium echoes EVERY sound so you have to keep the windows shut and curtains drawn. There's a balcony but it feels suicidal to go out on it. Nobody at reception when I got here (mid afternoon). The TV went on the blink so I couldn't get the many channels they say you can get; they said they'd fix it and they didn't. WiFi went off after 24 hours and then they tried to sell me a $5 scheme for $24.95. Even the coffee degrades after the first day. Really you'd be much better off in a country motel.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

I stayed in a studio room overlooking the central atrium.

How many reasons do you need not to stay here? Here are just six to start...

1. Noisy. From all directions. Including the gym next door because people apparently just drop the large free weights on the floor...

2. Not clean. Cursory cleaning at best, my advice is not to look too closely at anything. And bring hand sanitiser.

3. Springy soft mattress.

4. Thin sheets.

5. Flat pillows.

6. Something dreadful had once happened to the bathroom ceiling. I avoided looking up.

It might be cheap, but please don't be fooled because there is so much better for not much more.

Room Tip: A room in another hotel.

I stayed 3 night there in a superior studio, there was nothing superior about it. The bed was comfortable but the bedding was horrible, not what you expect from a so called 4 star hotel. The room was very basic. There are no food facilities close by, you need to go to Lambton Quay for that which you can get to from the James Cook Grand Chancellor Hotel lobby which is just down the street a little. Also if you're room is on the atrium it's very loud, closing the door, windows and curtains didn't help much. In the winter it's pretty cold too and the room doesn't have spare bedding besides pillows.

Stayed for 3 nights in a studio room (6k),booked with expedia for $120/night which was reasonable.Kindly requested a room with balcony and city view.Got given a room where we couldn't even smoke in the balcony as the building is like a stadium with roof on which would activate the smoke alarm. Every time we had to go 6 stories down on the street in the cold winter to smoke.Though the room had everything we just needed and the small fan heater kept it nice and warm. Supermarket and city centre is at a walking distance. Wifi is quite expensive and reception is not 24 hours. Parking is $20 a day which is ok.All staffs are quite friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: If you are a smoker please do inform the staffs and ask for a exterior balcony so you don't have...
