The room had almost nowhere to store underwear, socks, t-shirts etc nor toiletries in the bathroom. The closet space was meagre and poorly organised. There was no fridge as had been reqeusted. Parking cost $20 per day in the hotel garage. The window-frames were ancient and could do with a lick of paint.

Good Malay restaurant across the street. Handy location for Cuba Street pedestrian mall, Te Papa museum.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently. We chose the hotel because of the location and price. The room was very small, but clean and the bed comfortable. All the usual amenities in the room, but no fridge. The water in the shower was cold then steaming hot, and the tap only seemed to let warm water out in the basin. I reported this and was told that it was a common problem and would be looked at again. The main entrance to the hotel is on Cuba Street, however after a certain time at night you have to go in the entrance around the back where there is an intercom to let you in. No big problem really. Overall, we were happy with our stay there, especially as we were in Cuba street, my favourite part of Wellington. Many cafes and unusual shops to visit and not too far to walk to Courtney Place.

Were on a short weekend break, had stayed before in the Quality side of hotel, but we only wanted somewhere to shower and sleep, room was small with two single beds, beds were very firm & comfortable, bathroom was room, shower was great, could of done with brighter light over mirror room and bathroom were spotless, if you are looking for clean, comfortable affordable in walking distance of most of Welligntons attractions and some fantastic restaurants and bars then this would do the trick, if you want big tv's large room, lots of towels etc stay on the quality side, we had a twin room at the back of the hotel there was some noise from the strip, the room as no air con but the windows open , would stay here again for 1-2 night trip.

No parking. No air conditioning. The room was too hot to stay in during the day. I actually had to stay out till late, as the room was unbearable. The "mattress" was the most uncomfortable thing i have ever slept on, possibly acquired from the $2 shop? The pipework make so much noise that it felt like you were at the Huka Falls whenever someone opened a tap in the room next door.
Not that i expect the whole piping to be changed, and of course not all "hotels" have air-conditioning, but at $149 a night, these are expected.
The room i stayed in was, at a stretch, worth $14.90 a night ... not $149.
Will never set foot in that place again, and will make sure no one i know does either.

Room Tip: make sure you ask about amenities.

We booked this hotel because of its location. On the internet the rooms looked a lot better and bigger than in real life. We got a room at the front of the hotel (at Cuba street). The windows didn't close properly so it was very noisy. At night there is a big spotlight on the front of the building which was right on our window. The curtains are way to small to cover the windows so with the spotlight on it, you can't get it dark. After a complaint we where changed to an other room. This was darker but even smaller than the other one. I would never stay here again!

Hi Miriam-NL
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback in regards to your stay at CQ Hotels Wellington. Please accept my sincerest apologies that your experience did not meet your expectations.
I have taken careful note of your comment in regards to the window not closing properly and the spotlight on the front of the building; your message has been forwarded to the Maintenance department for his review and action. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
I have also asked our reservation department to update your profile and allocate you with a room away from the Cuba Street side of the hotel for any of your future stay with us.
Once again, I appreciate you sharing your concerns and am looking forward to welcoming you again in the near future.
Sincerely,
