call in for a night at the last min got a room for $70 room was big and very clean

Excellent hotel, clean tidy, very quiet rooms. Rooms were a good size, not too big, not too small. Great water pressure in the shower. Reception was very helpful and friendly, I had one of the old rooms, I know they are currently renovating the hotel. But was very happy with the room I got.

Breakfast was standard really, nothing over the top, small selection buffett. Room service had little to be desired. I purchased one item of the menu for dinner one night, all I got really was a plate full of grease. Didn't eat the fish in the end it was that soggy in oil.

Apart from that, a excellent hotel, basic but pleasurable.

Internet access was fast to but no wireless in rooms. Recommended!

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel in March 2009 as part of a package tour of New Zealand and Australia, so cannot comment on the room cost but can make observations on the facilities etc and compare it to all the other 'same-standard' 3* or so hotels I stayed in.

The hotel is a narrow high-rise located on a busy main street in the heart of the lively city of Wellington. There are quite a lot of bars/restaurants in the immediate vicinity, the harbour area is a couple of minutes stroll away and all the city centre highlights (Museum etc) can be accessed in a walk of less than a 10 minutes. The surrounding area is noisy, but as my room was on the 15th I had no bother at all from 'below' - however, other members of my group told me that they didn't fair as well since they were on lower levels....

Overall, the hotel was fine with no significant negative points, with all the expected room facilities and cleanliness but there was no in-room safe. The bathroom wasn't, with just a shower cubicle and fairly small basin area which reflected the proportions of the less-than-average-sized room.... As the 2 main lifts can get a bit busy at peak-periods, if you look properly you can find an extra lift around the corner and achieve a rapid 'escape' !

There was a fairly small dining room which is difficult to distinguish from the bar area, which is good and bad since things can get a little congested. The breakfast buffet was fine, with a reasonable choice of foodstuffs but eggs 'cooked-to-order' (something I like a lot) didn't seem to be available.

This a clean and tidy hotel for a stay in Wellington which offers an excellent location for visiting the city; you will enjoy your stay more if your room is on one of the higher floors !

I've stayed here quite a few times. You always know what you're getting - average sized rooms, always clean, staff mostly friendly, no fuss. I did have a broken ironing board once, which took 2 days and a bit of hassling to get replaced, but that's nothing major - oh, and don't eat the 'grab it and go' pizza, which is like a piece of oily cardboard. Yuk. Great location, central to everything; air conditioned rooms, good overall. I'd happily stay here again. Reasonable value for money, too.
