“Comfort and convenience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

The Ibis is perfectly located to access all tourist attractions, including the bus station to get to the zoo. Staff friendly and helpful. all modern conveniences. We found it spotless and comfortable although the room was a little too warm at times. Would definitely stay there again.

Ibis is conveniently located near the heart of Wellington City's Lambton Quay. Room prices are of great value and staff is helpful and available around the clock. A great place to start and end the day. Cable Car, Te Papa museum, Oriental Bay, government house and Wellington railway station are all within walking distance

We were unable to fault the Ibis Wellington and would most certainly stay there again. The hotel is very central to everything in downtown Wellington. It is clean and comfortable and the service provided was very satisfactory. We did not eat there and so cannot comment on that aspect.

Staff were friendly but you could tell they just wanted to get the job done and get you to move on. Rooms were clean and to the standard we were expecting. For the money we paid we were happy. nothing to complain about. If you have a car make sure you tell them when booking they said their car park was full, but was okay for us as it was a weekend and got street parking for free, they told us where to park and had a little map... but on Monday morning when we went to check out there was tow truck about to tow the car away as it was a clearway come 8am - it was 8.05am when we got to the car! lucky! $150 later! Didnt eat in the restaurant bar staff was nice when we had a drink.

Dear KatLouBak,

I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us however I am sorry that your stay was marred by your car nearly being towed. We provide a parking map with times on it as the wardens are 'very good at their job' in Wellington. I am glad you managed to catch them before they left and hope that you will give us an opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Kind regards,

Nathan Frost

We arrived late at night. Greeted by a friendly front desk staff who was very proactive about their Accor DeClub membership. Went to our room not expecting much seeing the size and setting of this hotel, we found our bed extremely clean with high quality linen (not fancy ones though). Headboard (a fixture on wall) was clean with room smelled like freshly sprayed although it's not what we like. All mattress and pillows had thick protectors under the sheets/case. Everything in bed had the fragrance of being newly dry-cleaned. Decor a bit "youth hostel"-like but all the essentials are there. Minimalism indeed. Room size okay being a hotel in city central. Bed size very good for us as a couple.

We only rated their cleanliness 3 out of 5 because the shower box was rather mouldy at the silicon linings and also some parts of the wall in bathroom and bedroom had some dodgy looking stain on them. Coffee mugs in room had tea stain at the bottom with kettle that got tea leaf fragments inside. However, the toilet and hand basin were stark clean. Carpet looked like well vacuumed too.

The lobby area is tiny with a bar/cafe. Restaurent is directly behind the bar. All guests shared this tiny common area in harmony which we found cosy and nice actually. Overall we had an enjoyable stay and the most important element of a hotel, the bed and staff being friendly and helpful, was satisfying.

Room Tip: With the small room size, it's better not to travel with yound children.

On 4th floor it was quiet, for a 3-night stay we found the room a bit small (but we are small people so we managed). Seemed like a skeleton crew on Sunday. For what we wanted - a place to sleep - it was basically ideal.
