The first apartment we were allocated was at the back, and the curtains were pulled across, so after the reception staff has left, we opened them, expecting to let in some light. Not so. The windows are floor to ceiling, but look at a blank concrete wall, dirty and with birds nesting only inches from the windows. Additionally, one of the two huge windows was almost opaque with bird droppings. There is no air conditioning at this hotel either, and we certainly would not have wanted to open the windows. We asked reception to come and look at the windows, and the very charming girl who came up agreed it was not acceptable, and in fact said she had blocked the room off and could not understand how we had been allocated it. We eventually were given a two bedroom suite at the front. Again, no air con, and very noisy during the day as these room look at Lampton Quay, but quiet at night. The furnishings etc. were fine and we were happy with the central location. However, the room was not properly cleaned when we took it over, with sticky marks on the dining table and coffee table, and these were not removed during our three night stay. Breakfast was adequate, but on our last day, no hot food had appeared by 07.30. Not a great miss, as the bacon and scrambled egg stew in bain maries and are very unappetising. Stick to the Continental selection, avoiding tinned peaches.
