We spent 2 nights at the Novotel and paid $79NZ per night as we had booked during Accor's room sale. On arrival, the duty manager advised us that we had been upgraded to a deluxe king room. We were very happy with the room, the bed was extremely comfortable and whilst we didn't have views of the harbour, we found the location and accessibility to Lambton Quay a real plus. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and when I requested some soy milk for my tea and some information about local church times, a staff member was up to our room within a few minutes with the milk, a map of church locations and handwritten note detailing times etc. We used the valet parking service which was $18NZ a day. Free internet was available in the foyer (almost unheard of in NZ!). The Novotel Capital certainly exceeded our expectations in both comfort and service and the location is perfect, especially for first time visitors to Wellington.

We had for a superior room which got us partial sea views, and even though these views were between the skyscrapers it was worth it as the room specifications were a higher grade too.

There is easy access to Lambton Quay via a lift that you have to access by walking through the restaurant but not so good for the diners with this constant traffic.

We made us of the valet parking which was good value for a capital city.

We have stayed in many Novotels before but the major flaw with this one was its housekeeping standards. The room at first glance was clean but either the previous occupant or the maid had long black hair as we kept on finding it everywhere; on the towels, the bathtub and bedroom floor. Also they did not replenish any of the toiletries during our stay or the tea/coffees sachets. Very disappointing. It is for this reason why they get a score of 2 not a 4.

We stayed here for one night before getting the Interislander ferry to Picton We expected a bland chain hotel, and were pleasantly surprised. Staff were particularly helpful, the room was nicer than we expected, and the food was better. Free internet in the lobby. Good location, with the lift down to Lambton Quay. Once you have checked in, your hotel key card gives you access back to the lift out of hours.

The Novoel is well located and with lift access to Lambton Quay, a great choice for an inner city stay. (Check lift opening times, if planning to leave early - or come home late!)The staff were pleasant and helpful, and the room clean and comfortable. It was of fairly average size and decor, but great value at Accor rates. It had the back view over the motorway. We came and went through the day, bringing back shopping etc - it was perfect for us.
