Should my travels bring me to Wellington again in the future, I would stay at this Novotel without hesitation.

The bedding was comfortable and both firm and soft pillows were provided, a nice touch. The room decently furnished, and included an in-room safe. The air conditioning system was quite good.

The location is pretty good, too. We had no difficulty in walking to the harbor and on to the Te Papa museum, or through Wellington's pleasant downtown area.

This hotel is situated on a steep hillside. If you stay here, ask at the desk about the elevator to the downtown street level; it is easy once you know where to look, but tucked behind the restaurant its location is not intuitive.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and totally enjoyed it. A good size room that included a small couch to recline on and desk, modern bathroom with a full size bath and the obligatory flat screen tv. The bedding is lovely, soft and cosy. There is easy access to Lambton Quay via the lift in the corner of the restaurant. If you like shopping you are right in the middle of the shops.
We had breakfast included and there was a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries, bacon, eggs, sausages, beans etc
The reception staff were very polite and courteous and eager to assist as necessary. There were two computers in the foyer of the hotel that could be used free for 20 minutes a day.
We found it easy to get around the city from the hotel and was an easy two block walk down to the harbour. The cable car is two minutes away.
The only draw back was there were very limited night time dining options nearby. McDonalds, Burger King, two pubs, kebab shop and a restaurant that only stayed oped until 7 some nights. Cuba Street which has a large dining district is around a 20-30 minute walk away.
Despite the dining issue I would choose this hotel again on any future visits.

We stayed as a family of four for three nights on holiday in Wellington.
The hotel is in the central business district and it is a small town so everything is pretty much within reach.
The rooms are on the small side, we struggled with two double beds for our family of two adults and kids aged 10 and 12. Usual basic Novotel decor. Quite clean, although there were a couple of hairs on our bathroom basin on arrival. Beds were very soft, a bit uncomfortable.
Guests receive 30 minutes free wifi a day, but as Accor gold members we were given 24 hour access. It was a joke really, as the wifi is only 512 k(!!!) and so you can't do anything more than open a few emails. This hotel really needs to get good free wifi to service its business and family clientele. Throughout our stay we saw other guests complaining to the hotel reception about the wifi, some of them had paid to upgrade to a premier wifi but are still not getting a fast service.
The selection of movies suitable for kids was limited to only a couple, but when we discussed this with the duty manager he was extremely helpful and arranged a DVD player for us. I did not get his name but he is excellent at customer service and went out of his way to ensure we had a comfortable stay.
The room service and breakfast buffet were both very good at this hotel, better than we have had at other, more expensive hotels. Breakfast offered a very wide choice from smoothie shots to various pastries, 4 types of eggs, cold buffet, hot food, flavoured milk for kids, different yoghurts and mueslis... really very good.
It's s shame about the size of the rooms but this would not put me off staying here again as we had great service and good food. However, there s no way that i would consider booking this hotel again unless they can provide a free and fast wifi service - this is 2014!

Dear OffWeGoOnATripAgain,
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback following your family visit to Wellington. While it was pleasing to read you enjoyed both our breakfast offering and the service you encountered from the team, it is disappointing to read your comments with regards our WIFI access and pricing. We do have a wide range of options available to our guests and if this was not made clear to you at check-in, then please accept our sincere apologies.
