2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Hard to recommend this hotel. Booked through Accor website (as a member) and was very disappointed. The room was very dated but on top of that the bathroom tap dripped, there was no plug in the sink, the wardrobe doors did not open because of the bar fridge, and the plywood bathroom door had a big hole in it. The towels were threadbare and the pillow had to be doubled over. We were on the 1st floor so no view but close to the ground floor exit. The walk into the city takes at least 10 minutes but quite close to Cuba street. The staff on arrival were cold to say the least but the staff when checking out were definitely more friendly. The hotel was not up to the usual Mercure standard even for the star rating.

Dear Starfish2201,

I am very disappointed to read your comments regarding your recent stay with us at Mercure Wellington. The Hotel has recently switched to a new laundry supplier and we have had very positive comments about the quality of the laundry so I am somewhat surprised to note your comment about the towels. I have forward this on to our supplier to follow up.
I have taken on board your comments about the property and if you can contact me off line at rob.poole@accor.com so I can follow up on the maintenance.

I will personally be passing on your comments to the relevant departments and I apologise on this occasion that we have not met our usual standards. We appreciate your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to Mercure Wellington soon.

Kind regards

Rob Poole

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Stayed one night for business. Affordable and a short walk to the CBD. If you are looking for basic affordable and clean accommodation then this is a good bet. I arrived late and just needed a bed for the night and at $100 this was perfect. Its not 5 star or anything but its nice. Only real disappointment was the cooked breakfast, it was quite average given that it was $26. I would definitely stay again but this time I would go out for breakfast. :-)
