“Mecure Wellington - The Terrace”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Great location, quite nights sleep. Indoor pool was a bonus as was the parking.
Staff were helpful and prompt to help when there were requests. Breakfast quality was good - especially the bacon. Bathrooms could do with some renovation; especially the shower heads and add better extraction fans.

We found this Hotel to be an ideal location for our stay. The area is quiet for a city and only a small walk to the CBD. The staff were very friendly and obliging and meals were great. A big bonus having an on site carpark.
A pleasant place to stay .

Very clean and surprisingly quiet - incredibly comfortable beds - fantastic sleep
Service in restaurant poor - seemed overwhelmed due to presence of largish groups
Car park gate not responding to card - needed to "buzz" reception every time
Great value overall and very convenient to motorway

Dear Travellingnurse1,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us at Mercure Wellington. The Hotel has a guest lift which allows access down to Watson Street which then leads down to Willis Street thus cutting out any hills.

Thank you for sharing your experience and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Kind regards

Rooms small and pokey, rooms old and outdated, generally clean but very small rooms, was also expensive, though booked last minute. The walk up the hill from town was good for me but no so enjoyable. Much prefer mercure on Willis for location and rooms.

Its a hard decision when going to Wellington to stay at the Mercure on Willis or the Mercure on The Terrace.Willis St tends to always be a bit cheaper but the one on The Terrace does have a swimming pool next to its gym as the main attraction for me. There is sauna also though I have never used it. If you can ask for the rooms that face the city, the view can be quite nice and a few of the corner rooms are bigger with a suite. Its not actually that much further to walk into the city compared to staying at the James Cook and Novotel.

On arrival we were upgraded which was a nice surprise !
The room was well laid out and more than adequate for our one night stay.
Despite being at the rear of the building, there was some street noise which did interfere with sleep quality, but you have to expect that on a busy Saturday night in a central city location.
