Fidel’s on Cuba St has a great atmosphere. It is cozy and eclectic and photos of Che and Fidel line the walls. Their food is just as good as the ambiance. I went there for a late breakfast this morning and ordered the waffles with maple syrup, strawberries, and whipped cream. The portion was generous and the waffles were gooey and delicious, made Belgian-style. I also ordered a mocha, which was one of the best I’ve had in Wellington (which is saying a lot considering this city is the espresso capital of New Zealand!). It came with two marshmallows, which I always appreciate. Although this was all I ate, the counter displayed delicious-looking sweet and savory treats and the menu boasted Mexican-style food and a variety of teas, smoothies, juices, and milkshakes. I also noticed many regulars sitting down or getting take-away, which is always a good sign. Definitely a great choice for someone looking to have a relaxed and delicious meal with a friend!
(Service was subpar, however).
