I visit here whenever I can. It is at least 20 minutes from my home but I make a special trip as often as possible. In the weekends a brown paper / handwritten menu is on the wall at the counter. The big breakfast is my choice. The scrambled egg is the best in Wellington (not like that pan fried omelette they serve north of the Bombay hills). This also comes with yummy garlic mushrooms, two homemade croquettes/ hashbrowns, homemade tomato relish, plenty of real middle bacon and two small locally made sausages. I get buttery basil tomotoes as an extra which are lovely. Is your mouth watering yet ... because it should be. Of course that comes on toast as well.
On the menu they also have hotcakes, the best French Toast, muesli and homemade stewed fruit and sometimes home made baked beans to name a few.
During the week the menu is slightly more limited but they are very obliging when I request my big breakfast.
The sweets are great too. Things like ginger gems and yummy slices.
If you want something to take away the deli next door (the same place) has lovely meals to take home, items for lunch and sweets as well as preserves.
Only a few tables but join in with another if you can't get a table ... they serve items quite quickly.
Overall one of the best foodie places to go in Wellington .... out of the way .... hiding for only those in the know .... now you know too!!!!
