“Friendly & Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

We had the beer battered snapper and the crispy pork belly for lunch and both were superb. The hot chocolate is something special. The service was friendly and prompt so needless to say well visit again the next time were in Taupo.

“Warmed your toes and your tummy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Food and service were excellent. So good in fact we returned the next night too. Wide range to choose from and desserts to die for.

“Excellent food and staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

On the way home to Hawke's Bay about 3pm and hadn't had lunch, called at Dixie Brown's to see if we could get a meal - the waiter was so obliging, brought the lunch and dinner menus and said just pick your meal - so we had tea for two! (it was mid afternoon) then a lunch of a bagel with bacon and avocado and corn fritters with extras - beautifully presented, and yummy food with a wine and beer, just what we needed - I just felt so relaxed in a table at the front so able to see the lake - great! Also, our waiter knew all about fishing trout, so husband was in his element1

“Excellent food but service slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Eight of us had dinner here and we all agreed the food was excellent. The menu is extensive too. The downside was service was very slow and we had to chase down our waitress a couple of times. The outside tables had a rug on each chair in case the temperature dropped - a nice touch.

Do eat here but not if you have limited time.

“Breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

Decided to dine here for breakfast ordered pancakes, was not as good as the MC Donald’s ones. Lamb and toast, allot on the plate and was done medium rare, they didn’t ask how to cook it. Hot chocolate was hot milk with a blob of chocolate. Teas were the highlight id say.
