“Overnight stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

this resort is a very busy place. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy, the noise level wasnt too bad considering there are a lot of rooms and people always staying there. Very touristy. If youre after something secluded and romantic this wouldnt be the palace to stay.
Had a pleasant meal at one of the restaurants. Overall I found it a lovely place and I would go back

After recently staying at the Chateau Tongariro, (a sister hotel of Wairakei and also operated by Bayview) i was pleasantly surprised by the standard of rooms, food and hospitality.

Rooms were a good size, clean and well presented. Housekeeping clearly take pride in their work, the rooms and bathroom were immaculate.

Hotel is starting to get a little tired and could do with a little bit of maintenance, in the bathroom there shower rose was broken and there were several broken tiles.

Was here for a conference and the food and beverage was well above normal conference standards. The staff were also very attentive and competent

I recently stayed here during a trip to the RWC. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and clean. The thermal pool is a welcome relaxing place. The bar was good but always closed early. Breakfast was very good with a good choice of food. A bit out of town and you will need to get a taxi or drive into town. Golf course across the road. Close by to the Huka Falls and Geothermal fields

We stayed here for four nights. We stayed in the one bedroom executive spa suite. It was a great long weekend.

The hotel has everything you need to enjoy a weekend away - good restaurant, great thermal pools, good playground and good location.

The only negative aspect is the dated decor, it is in need of a good upgrade and some new life.

However we will be going back as the staff are great and it has a great feel to it.

Room Tip: Try and get the rooms that face the thermal pool - it makes it more fun to run into the warmth of yo...

We boyfriend and I and his parents stayed here in April and enjoyed it. The rooms were nice and tidy, the patio was great to sit and watch the sunset and the pool was great. We had dinner at the restaurant and while it wasn't bad it wasn't great either. However, I think it is more geared towards family vacationing that adult couples and the buffet for kids would have been great.

I found the room and facilities were on the mark. Clean tidy rooms with a cafe and restruant providing great sleep and yummy food. i found that the service side let them down a wee bit in the cafe side but all in all was well worth the stay. The outdoor HEATED pool was just the best on them cold mornings and the bar staff service was brilliant. value for money yes. would stay here again.

Room Tip: Nice and Quiet

We arrived fresh from a nasty car accident. The staff were very helpful and looked after us really well.
