“Great hosts - lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2009

All perfect, we had the best service by very friendly hosts. Loads of tips and recommendations - thanks again, we did them all! Only one aspect that cost 5/5: Relatively high room-rates... otherwise great, you will not be disappointed - that is for sure!

I booked two nights here for our first wedding anniversary, we normally stay in motels/ hotels so this was a bit of a gamble for me as it was going to be a surprise for my wife!

After having a very good look at all types of accom in Taupo I booked with Rangimarie Guest House. What a great choice I made!

We arrived to be greated by Joe, an awesome host. After showing us around we settled into our room. This whole place is just so comfortable and clean, you immediately feel so at home and relaxed. We had fresh flowers in our room as well as some chocolates and a bottle of wine and a wee note wishing us all the best for our anniversary. Nice quality fluffy towels, in our bathroom!

Breakfast in the morning after a truly wonderfull sleep in the comfortable bed was nothing short of grand! We had breakfast with the view of the mountains in the distance, The food was fresh, nicely cooked and would rival some of the best five star hotels we have stayed in.

Joe and Meg were such wonderfull hosts, nothing was too much bother, the house was ours to use, from having lovely fresh coffee on tap to watching a dvd on the big screen tv when we got in at night.

We cant speak highly enough of our stay here, Dee my wife had an awesome time and left relaxed and happy, always a good sign !!

We will be back to stay again, and have told our friends about this place.....If your looking at a B&B in Taupo, you really need to seriously consider this special place!

We spent 3 fantastic nights at Rangimarie in their Fern room. Joe and Meg's hospitality was absolutely fantastic from the moment we arrived, when we were served homemade scones and tea. The excellent hospitality continued throughout our stay and nothing seemed too much trouble, without being intrusive. This made the Rangiemarie one of the best places that we stayed during our month in NZ.

The B&B is very well equiped, and occupies the top floor of their house, with lovely views (weather permitting!) over Lake Taupo to the volcanoes to the south. It isn't a lakeside location but is a short and easy walk to both town and the lake.

Joe & Meg were very happy to let us use their fantastic kitchen and their swimming pool and computer.

Both the room and the rest of the facilities are beautifully presented and immaculately clean.

The breakfast was great, with local produce and even home grown chicken eggs (we saw but never heard the chickens!). Joe made a real effort to produce fabulous breakfasts.

All in all a wonderful stay. We would highly recommend the Rangimarie to anyone visiting Taupo.

We stayed at Rangimarie while touring New Zealand on our honeymoon. I am Belgian and my husband is English.
We were planning to stay just 1 night at this B&B but we felt so good staying there that we decided to stay 2 nights.

When we arrived, we received a really warm welcome. We had travelled for several hours and being welcomed by friendly people and fresh home made scones and muffins with a cup of tea is just the best thing.

The rooms are very very nice. Very comfortable bed with really good linen and the decoration is sober and warm. The ensuite bathroom is modern and spacious.

If you enjoy your breakfast, you won't be disapointed : home made bread, fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, cooked breakfast, ... you name it. (As Joe noticed I didn't eat cooked breakfast he got me pancakes on the next day :-). Everything is super fresh and really yummy.

We took advantage of the spa (they provide the towels and the bathrobe) one evening with a nice bottle of Champagne - our hosts had left it on our bedside table when they found out we just got married !

And to make it even better a truely homely feeling with Joe always available to suggest us activities, places to eat, etc.
The free internet access is definetly a good plus if you want to arrange the rest of your trip (or if you are addicted to Facebook ;-).

Overall, a fantastic place to stay, a home away from home and our best B&B experience in New Zealand. If you travel to Taupo, stay there ... you won't be disapointed!
