As a curry lover - I'm from the UK after all! - I have struggled to find an Indian in New Zealand that comes close to English expectations. A a visitor to New Zealand every year for the past 8 years I have finally found one. I would say that Indians in NZ have got a lot better over the last 2-3 years but this one is outstanding. The food is well presented and superbly cooked and the waiters are very friendly and the service is great. The flavours that are packed into each dish are full of depth and the naan breads are a revelation. Try the goat and fish curries - which will be cooked to your requirements and also the salt and pepper prawns are to die for. Tip - if you like your curries hot then ask for the dishes to be cooked as either Indian mild medium or hot as the Kiwi mild medium or hot is not the same as English! Kiwis as arule do not like hot spicy food!! This restaurant is very close to town and has great views out over the lake if you choose to sit out on the balcony.
