“Exciting fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2014

This was the very first time I went Prawn fishing in Taupo and my what an experience it was even though we caught none! The staff are so friendly that they even gave us a free return pass because we weren't able to catch any :). Highly recommend giving this a go! For other activities in Taupo feel free to check out my video: http://youtu.be/7iostwj9e1c

“Its prawn fishing, not catching”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

I took my daughter as a treat while we were in Rotorua. It was not a nice day (windy and bit wet) so maybe our experience would have been nicer on a great day. It was school holidays and seemed busy. We didnt catch a prawn, neither did anyone else we saw. The ponds were murky, so you couldnt even see what was in the water. Im sure it would be a better experience if it was a sunny day and we caught something, and if there was someone who could have come and given us some advice.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. It is a shame that the weather was not great on the day you visited. We do have many people everyday catch Prawns and enjoy the other activities on offer in our park. It sounds like you didn't go on one of our tours of the Prawn Nursery and Hatchery which are included in the admission price. During the tour you get handy tips and advice on Prawn fishing and receive a Prawn Fishing lesson. We find that in general terms the people that do go on the tour have more luck fishing. We hope you may visit again one day and have better luck.

“Prawns”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Loved eating the prawns but otherwise very boring. There were people there trying to catch prawns but they had none. Fried prawns were great though

“Family Fun place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014

Went there with my 2 kids (12 & 10 yrs old). Enjoyed the short tour and went straight to prawn fishing. As we love fishing so we spent a few good hours at the prawn ponds. I love the idea that you can cook those prawns that you caught on the day on site.

However, it's quite tricky to catch them. We didn't catch many in the morning.until we found out the trick. I would say you need a lot of patient to do that.

The restaurant is so expensive and their food are so so only. It is very packed thou, as this is the ONLY restaurant around that area. Next time I will consider to pack my own lunch there. So, we don't need to eat at that restaurant again and we don't need to take a break from our prawn fishing activitiy.

I really enjoyed the little foot spa on site. We sat on a bench in front of a beautiful view while soaked our feet inside the hot spa. Temperature is various for different spa pots. It's lovely and warm. Bring along a small towel to dry your foot if possible, as paper towels were ran out at the dispenser next to the spa when we were there.

overall we enjoyed our day and bring along your kids if they are keen on fishing.
