Wow - having been in NZ for three weeks we ran across some great people, but tops on the list are the people at the Chelmswood motel. We were looking for a place to stay upon our arrival. Even though we didnt have a reservation the front officer manage agreed to stay late to greet us.

She walked us to our rooms and made sure we were all set before leaving.

We couldn't figure out the tv. We called the front desk and less than two minutes later the repairman arrived and fixed the tv for us.

The room was clean and location good. But the service is what shines - and outshines the service I have received from hotels costing 5 times as much.

We stayed in a studio unit as we were only at the motel at night and there were only two of us.We were in Taupo to babysit grandchildren while parents worked and their home is too small for extras to stay. We found our room to be clean and comfortable and to have all that we needed. The owners were very friendly and helpful. It is a great place to stay and would recommend it to friends and family and would be happy to stay again.

We booked here, following a delightful stay 2 years ago, and it is still as good.It is nice to be a couple of minutes away from the main centre of town. Our family room had our own private mineral bath, and we also thoroughly enjoyed the hot pools each day. The kitchen is well-equipped and the beds are comfortable. Brian and Janice were excellent to deal with and are working hard to keep the establishment looking fresh. We love Taupo and this will remain our choice of accommodation.

This is our second stay at Chelmswood. We have a lake view suite. I just love the view from our room. the room is comfortable, love the plunge thermal pool although I wish that you could see the TV and/or view from the pool. if they could make that window between the bedroom and pool bigger then that could be achieved.

i wish we were here longer to enjoy a bbq outside our room overlooking the fabulous lake
