“Tasty meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Our meal was tasty and filling but somewhat overpriced. We were only one of two parties in the entire restaurant due to the low season, and it was quiet with good service.

“Dissappointed .....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

We have been there on three occasions and have left each time feeling dissatisfied. The most recent time we ordered the roast chicken pie with truffle oil in which the pie was over cooked, the pie filling was dry and there was no sign of truffle oil any where. The other main consisted of a piece of steak which was minimal to say the least. Over cooked to our request and with a thick blue vein cheese sauce which was tasteless. Over priced to say the least. The only two things on the menu worth ordering are the kiwi burger and the Thai pumpkin soup.

“Very pleasant, great food, friendly staff...would recommend to everyone”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Reasonably priced and the food was....well lets just say I came away feeling like a real piglet. I had eaten more than my belly needed but it tasted so scrummy I just had to finish everything on my plate. I was fit to burst but it was worth every bite. Can't say there was anything I disliked

“Tourists - check your bill!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

My husband & I were visiting Rotorua in April & decided to try this place as it looked nice & also a bit less like the usual cafes which are plentiful here.
First,it was clean if a little barren. It was lunchtime & hardly a soul there besides us.Such a huge place must surely be more"jumping"in the evening to make it pay.
We ordered a simple egg&chips each & stressed we only needed the standard chips, not the more expensive ones which were about 2/3 times more expensive.
However, when we came to pay,lo & behold! We were charged for the dearer chips. Now,in the scheme of things, this aint a huge amount of money, more the fact that they did this to tourists - would they try this with locals? To be fair, they did adjust the bill but that was naughty,KK!
We did not return, there's plenty of other eateries in this town, give them a try.

“I would have given 2 1/2 stars if I could...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

As Rotorua locals we are continually disappointed by what our restaurants try to pass off as "Kiwi Fare", and Kuriuos Kiwi was no different. We came here with visitors from out of town, as it had been recommended as a family friendly place, but unless family friendly translates as a huge, draughty, cold barn, with typical deep fried kids' menu items, our recommendation was wrong. No one appeared to offer us a table, so we just sat our selves down, although there after the waiter was very attentive. Food... The burgers were ok, although missing some of the promised ingredients, the fish was nice. The pulled pork came with some sort of unidentifiable purée, which my husband described as "maybe kumara, definitely baby food" . Desserts were alright, and the Jaffa mousse very good. And the the bill...over $180 for what amounted to 4 burgers, a kids meal, 2 wiines, 2 beers and two soft drinks, expensive come to mind.
