4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

The 2 bedroom unit we had were nice and cosy. However, it was a further walk to the mineral hot pools than we had expected, so make sure when booking that you see how far your unit might be from the pools.

We were told that the towels provided was for the entire stay and won't have clean ones the next night, but they kindly replaced them. We sort of did expect to have at least the towels changed everyday, didn't realise when we were booking that this was not the case.

We would have liked to try the hangi (steam ovens) but the weather was pretty rough at the time we were staying there. Most probably be a better stay during summer time rather than winter.

Overall, this is value for money as other places will cost more as their facilities is slightly better. If you are looking for the not so posh but still nice then this is definitely the place.

We didn't have the best experience at the Cosy Cottage, the mineral pools were not warm enough to soak in & when I had a shower to warm up, the water was not hot enough either! Also noticed hairs on my sheets when I got into bed. We came here years ago and had a better experience then. We will not come back here.

We spent 3 nights at Cosy Cottage and cannot recommend it highly enough. Whilst we encountered a few dramas while we were there, Danny and Natalie and the team were so accommodating and helpful that they ended up feeling like family. Cosy Cottage is a great place to stay, the steam oven meal we did was the best thing we ever tasted and we would definitely go back again, and will recommend to anyone.

Arrived sun 29th April 2012.
We had sold our car we had boxes of our possessions everywhere!! two members of staff watching us with bemused looks on their faces, we started chatting with them, and they explained they were concerned as we had a small tent and plainly not enough storage space. One of the staff members very kindly offered to lend us her much larger tent and also gave us a key to store things in a garage on site. Cosy cottages are a family run park which is able to offer many advantages over the general holiday park experience. We have previously stayed at two other holiday camps in rotortura and we feel this park has a lot more to offer.Cosy cottages has a more of a natural feel about it being close to the lake they have resident pukekoes and the family lab buster!!! The park also has heated tent sites, enclosed mineral pools which are cleaned daily. They have a great steam oven called a hangi prepare your food in the morning poop it in the hangi and forget about it. Safe environment for children also situated off a main road. While staying here we had a personal situation. Steve and I would like to express our thanks and gratitude to Danny and natalie for the way you supported us. All and all this visit to cosy cottages enriched our stay in New Zealand and again we were shown the true spirit of the kiwi people.

Room Tip: ask for the heated tents sites.

Hi there!
If you plan to go to Rotorua, you have to stay there.
My Girlfriend and I stayed at the Cosy Cottage a week ago for a night, unfortunetely not enough time to stay longer.
We had a great moment, everything was perfect. Staff really friendly and helpfull since the first minute.
We really enjoyed this place, so relax! We loved the fast access to the lake, less than 5 minutes and you are on the shore, perfect for a nightwalk.
We liked also the hot water pools, especially in May, when the night start to be cold, nice feeling!
Thanks again to the staff.

Room Tip: Can't tell you anything about rooms, we had a campervan.

Our family had a fantastic time here! Management were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had planned to stay 1 night but so glad we stayed two. Don't be fooled by exterior of this park it provides a unique New Zealand experience. Our 3 boys loved digging in the black sand to make their own hot pool. We then went back to the park and enjoyed their much cleaner version. The hangi we cooked was close to the best meal of our 3 week holiday. This park gave us our most unique experience throughout all of NZ that we visited. We can't recommend it highly enough.

Last night we stayed in the Cosy Cottage and we were just amazed. After a long day out in the rain we were glad that we could use the Hot Pools, which are included in fee you pay! A warm welcome and a few advices what to do in Rotoroa later, we found ourself provided with a spade to digg our own Hot Pool on the Hot Water Beach next to the Holiday Park on the lake side. It was a really funny expierence although our "Pool" was only deep enough for our feet. The friendly staff also gave us a pan to use in the amazing steam oven, so we made our own hungi, just delicious!:) While we waited on the food we took a break in the Hot Pools again, this time the ones in the Campingground (far better, than your own hole;)) and watched the stars in calm and relaxing water.
We enjoyed your stay completly and hope, that many people come! Its the place to be in Rotoroa!
