“A must stay at campsite”

We always stay at cosy cottage when in N Z. Jo/Danny and the staff, very friendly and helpfull, site very clean and quite. We love the hot tubs, and food cooked in the hangi is a must, even for a novice. Cosy cottage is a big part of Rotorua for us and will stay again when in N Z.

Room Tip: Tourist information advised us, we advise you.

We stayed at the Cosy Cottage camp site on the advice of the local tourist information centre and we were not disappointed. We rented a non powered site for our camper van and paid 20NZ dollars per person per night.

First of all the staff are great, they are a young couple who run the place and will go out of their way to do anything for you. We were given a map for the town and they talked us through everything there is to do and how to get there. They also tried to save us money on a few attractions and places to eat.

The facilities are of a high standard. There is a big outdoor swimming pool and 3 heated natural mineral pools which are available to use until 10pm. We used them twice a day and they were very popular in the evening which was great. There is a large kitchen to cook your food and a large communal area which had a tv area and a pool table. A very unique and wonderful amenity of the camp site is their natural thermal steam cooker which uses the thermal heat from the local lake to cook anything. We used it to cook lamb and fish and both meals were amazing.

Around the campsite there is a large childrens play area, a bubbling hot mud pool which is fenced off but is interesting to look at. Possibly the best feature of the site is the small private beach by the lake where you can dig in the sand and unearth hot water from the ground and make your own private beach spa! Very interesting indeed.

If you are planning a trip to Rotarua and you are looking for a room, campervan or tentsite then make sure you stop by this place. You wont be disappointed.

We travelled across the whole North Island and stayed in a number of Holiday/Campervan Sites and all of them were great. But Danny and his team at Cosy Cottage Holiday Park were simply a cut above the rest. The park was great, the facilities were very clean but the Service that Danny provided was so great we haven't stopped telling everyone about his holiday park since we got back. He was so helpful and informative that he took our stay in Rotorua from being really good to Fantastic. We thought we had planned the stay to perfection, but the Restraunts, Maori dinner and other activities that he encouraged us to do just made our time there so much better.
We would definitely recommend this Holiday Park to all of our friends. Thanks Danny.

We stayed there one night with a tent and liked the campingground a lot. The costumer were very nice and helpful ( a lot better than the tourist information). The kitchen and the bathroom were quit clean and they have a natural steam oven where you can cook your meal. They also have a natural hot pool which is quit good to relax.

Stayed here two nights with two others and it was comfortable enough and reasonably priced (though it was the only place where I had to pay extra for a third person). We stayed in a self contained cabin which could sleep up to 5 (queen, bunks and a single).

The kitchenette was large enough but the oven was a pain because you could only use either a hotplate, grill or the oven one at a time - they also neglected to give you roasting pans which made the oven rather obsolete. One of the hotplates also didn't work and we didn't have a toaster which made things a little difficult.

The staff are very friendly and the location is good, only a couple of minutes drive from town and close to all of the major attractions in Rotorua (could easily stay for a week and find things to do every day). They also back onto a hot water beach (though they tout it as a little more than it is on the website) and have a heated pool, bubbling mud pool (for looking only), steam oven and mineral hot tubs on site which is a bonus.

Hiya

Glad to here that it was enjoyable enough but at the same time I wanted to acknowledge that you were disappointed with aspects of the kitchenette. I wish you would have popped into the office and asked about your concerns at the time, we could've helped. For instance, there are toasters in every unit (just not on the countertop - on a shelf or in a cupboard) and we have spare oven trays.
Also, the 'chalet stoves' are manufactured in such a way that you can either run, one element and the oven or two elements.

All of this aside, your thoughts haven't fallen on deaf ears, we'll see what we can do to improve the kitchenette with the team and go from there.

Kind Regards
Danny

We stayed in a single room with a double bed and bunks, with a toilet included. Everything was tidy and the room was great for our small family. We really enjoyed the spa pools and the hot water beach was great fun to dig in. The staff were great at pointing us in the right direction of a great fish & chip shop. We would happily stay again as it wasn't too expensive, was handy to everything and was lovely and quiet, being off the main road.

Room Tip: Our single room was a bit tight for space but it was perfect for the 3 of us.

We stayed in one of the cabins for a total of four nights, the cabin was self contained with kitchen, en suite and tv, fridge, kettle, toaster, cooker, pans, fan.

The bed was super comfy, due to the thermal land there is piping hot water all day for showers.

The park itself has natural hot tubs which were cleaned daily, a steam oven to cook in and a bubbling mud pool to go see.

The new managers were super friendly and keen to help in anyway they could. We hired bikes and they showed us a cool route to go see lakes and thermal areas. The managers were even able to give us hints on how to cook in the steam oven which was great. We booked a Maori concert with them which was the best thing we did in Rotorura its really recommended.

We were not camping but the heated tent sites were awesome!

All round thumbs up!
