Wai-O-Tapu is very large, well signed, with a wide range of thermal activity. It is well laid out with good trails and board walks. Be aware that there are strong fumes and that people with breathing issue or asthma may have problems.

Wai-o-Tapu has great walks around some very colorful thermal lakes/pools (i.e., the Artist's Palette and the Champagne Pool). The scenery is gorgeous and this was one of our favorite places in Rotorua. The Lady Knox geyser is a major attraction there (it's actually a short drive from the main visitor's center) but it's kind of funny because the geyser is blatantly simulated with laundry detergent. The bubbling mud pools (also a short drive) are amazing!
WE enjoyed this tourist attraction immensely. It was all just sheer natural beauty. We reccomend this attraction highly to all other yugoslavians and other tourists. The yugoslavian tourists
My wife and I visited New Zealand this Easter. We went directly fra Auckland to the fascinating town of Rotorua. On our second day there, we went to Waiotapu. And what an axperience it was! A very nice footpath leads you through the sulphur-misted area, which is dotted with open pools, boiling dams, waterfalls and incredible colours. Good gift shop, small café. One thing though: The much-advertised Lady Knox geyser is a hype, not worth paying for. But the thermal area is great - don't miss it (or Rotorua) if you're in NZ!
