We visited Wai-o-tapu Thermal Wonderland in July. We got there when the doors opened in order to see everything in a different light! Also, no one, I mean no one was there. This allowed us to get pictures without anyone in them. Most tourists wait and go directly to the Lady Knox Geyser at 10:15 AM. Your entry fee allows you to visit the park, leave to see the Lady Knox Geyser erruption, and then return to the park. When we returned to the park, everything looked different with the sun directly above. Be sure not to miss the mud bubbling, it is down the road from Lady Knox and doesn't require entry fee.
