“A great half-day visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

We stopped off here whilst driving a motorhome from Taupo to Rotorua. We made no effort to arrive by 10:15 to see the Lady Knox Geyser, but had a great three hours here wandering the three trails through the thermal park.

We thoroughly enjoyed spending time taking in the amazing mud pools, fumaroles, steaming lakes and springs. The colours, sulphuric smells, hissing and bubbling sounds are a feast for the senses and a visit here is to be highly recommended.

On your way from the main road you will see a sign reading 'Mud Pool'. Please don't ignore this because it is larger and more active than any of the mud pools you will see inside Wai-O-Tapu - and it's free!

“A stunning Thermal Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

This is an easy walking tourist adventure - flat with well laid out paths and signposts. Two elderly ladies on walking sticks managed this thermal attraction with no fuss. The volcanic activity is varied and extremely interesting. Would highly recommend

“Not to miss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

it's basically the most amazing part of this Rotorua place. The volcanic activity is awesome. They have all the pathways and all locations well organized and tracked. The LLady Knox gyzer is awesome also.

“Lovely place well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Wai-O-Tapu is a lovely place with lots of good information and well laid out. The information given at the Lady Knox was great. We had a bit of bad luck as it was a very dry summer and therefore not a lot of water anywhere to be seen, but it was still amazing. Kids loved it too, aged 6 & 7 years.

I'd recommend it, and make sure you're there at 1015 for the geyser, and look at the mud pools on the way out.
