Great Hotel.. The front is quite outdated but inside it is great! Firstly we were given a room in the old section.. although it had been re decorated and was great.. being fussy I called downstairs and requested a room which looked over the pool, after the bellboy came and showed us to our new room, which was apparently in the 'new' section.. I was confused because the rooms were much outdated and to be honest the standard I would expect in the 2 star motel! Make sure you request one of the newly furbished rooms which look towards Rotorua town! Apart from that great place! flat screen plasma, comfortable bed and great room service. Also although it is a 5 min drive into town there are regular shuttle services for free which often they were just driving me and my partner into town! talk about service!! Great price off www.wotif.com . $98 per night! excellent!

Nice hotel out of town but very comfortable. Nice open bar and the restaurant is pretty good. Thumbs up

The Heritage Rotorua is located out of the town in a quiet area close to the famous Wakarewarewa village which has hot springs, and local stores with arts and crafts made by the local Maori tribes. The hotel has its own Auditorium with an excellent show each evening and there are other activities that they will arrange for you, like the famous Spa and the Luge. The concierge were harassed by me, but they were so friendly that they dod not mind the excessiveness at all

I was looking forward to staying at the heritage and was disappointed.
On a positive note, the reception staff were helpful and friendly, the show at
the hotel is fantastic! Definitely go and see the show and experience the hangi
meal.
The pool and spa were good and breakfast was fine.
My disappointment began going down to the bar for 'Happy hour', I saw the sign
which was fair, only beer and wine were 'happy hour' prices so I ordered a wine.
I was asked 'which type of wine', I responded 'riesling'. I was poured a glass and
then charged full price which was $10 and I thought quite pricey for a glass of
wine. When I queried this, I was told 'no, riesling isnt included in 'happy
hour'. Now, I think, why didnt she tell me before she poured this glass? Im
feeling like im being taken advantage of here.
The next catastrophe at this hotel is the smoke alarms. I awaken at around
midnight to sirens and ear piercing alarms. I jump out of bed and look outside
expecting fires or erupting volcanes...nothing. I find out the next day at
checkout 'false alarms and problems with the system', no apologies for the
worst disrupted sleep I have ever experienced at a hotel in my life.
I read this review and think back on the disastrous visit to this
hotel. It is a shame as the entertainment provided and the facilities of this
hotel could provide guests such a wonderful stay, but as of March 2009 I
recommend you stay elsewhere.
