“rooms to view....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

Fantastic-was proud to show my visitor around . At only $20 pp. it was an amazing place to spend a few hours.(locals free) Started off with the earthquake history & shaking seats then went upstairs to viewing tower platforms. What a fantastic view! Then went to visit the haunting ghost amongst the steam pipes. Ventured downstairs to view the old tiled spa baths & equipment they used for ailments then down under we ventured to view all the old pipe works. Headed back up to ground level & over the other side to fantastic displays of old Maori artifacts, A beautiful carved Waka and a wall of remembrance for the Maori Battalion. Was a very busy day as it was Easter Wknd & the Rotorua Easter Egg hunt was on . What a fun thing for the kids , eggs were hidden in rafters, displays, so family's looked like they were having a fun active day. PS-the toilets were in keeping with the bath spa with fab old tiles &Hand basins.. Nice & clean too!

“Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

Superb site, great renovation, and a great slice of medical history. The docent who guided our tour was delightful. She was a "museum piece" herself!

“museum worth a look - just- not disabled friendly”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

not really much to see and a bit expensive to get into. If you live in Rotorua then admittance is free, so If you have out of town visitors won't cost you anything to visit. Not much on show , lots of stairs so I missed out on the lookout and the basement. A lift takes you only to 1 floor, not to the other section. Thought most places had disabled access - not really here. If you can manage stairs then maybe have a look, if you cannot climb like me then give it a miss

“Excellent!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed the Te Arawa displays, could have spent hours there, especially enjoyed the Maori Battalion movie and displays. Than was the most excellent guide through this section. Too bad the kids couldn't have a listening device too...we paid for them to get in as well and it would have been nice for them to hear all that was said in the same way we did. Found the baths side of the museum a little bit spooky!! Was excellent to be able to get a pass(at no cost) to return again the following day as we had not quite seen it all having arrived late in the afternoon. A great place to visit

“An amazing building and display”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

We were very impressed by the history and art at this lovely former health spa. There was plenty of chance to wander through the old building looking at the views, at the old photographs of the spa,and some amazing art work. The reenactment of the 1880 earthquake was awesome and well worth watching.
