“Nice Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW via mobile

This was our second time to this hotel and we quite enjoyed it. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff was very helpful. Great location being right by the lake and also being right on Eat Streat.

For American travelers, this property is between 2 and 3 stars.

The pros are that it's in a great location, offers free parking and is walking distance to the lake, the shops, and loads of dining.

The cons are that it's run down (renovation past due) has a restaurant that is buffet style for all meals and a bar that is over the top on prices, doesn't have a place you can a print boarding pass, charges $8nz for a wash and dry, charges $23nz for Internet access per 24 hour period, has bathroom amenities from the 1970's, has sterile and dirty hallways, has a thermal spa area that is filthy and not well maintained, and lastly, reception not only was lacking in customer service but three separate employees, including the assistant manager, were not able to answer basic questions that most travelers would be interested in.

This property was a complete miss.

We stayed here for just one night. The hotel has a good location near the lake and right by the Eat Street, so you have a lot of dining options around the hotel. There was some confusion when we checked in - they originally had us in a room with an incorrect number of beds and it took a little bit of time for the manager to come out and move us to a different room. The room was okay, but looked dated and could certainly use a makeover. The hallways and elevator also looked overdue for a makeover. Our room rate included breakfast, which was quite elaborate and was definitely one of the better things about the hotel. They had free self parking, but there was a fee for in-room wifi.

We stayed a night in a King bedroom which comes with a sofa bed and another with lake views with 2 double beds. Not too shaby at all, despite the negative reviews I have read on Tripadvisor. The geothermal pools are great, with varying degrees along with a tepid swimming pool that is just nice for the kids. Our stay on a weekend coincided with Sunday morning market by Lake Rotorua. Nice crafts and Thai massages in the open. Dinner is only a short stroll away on Eat Street (Tutenakai). Location wise, this place is unbeatable in Rotorua, as it is near the Lake and very close to nightlife. Hotel service is nice, un-obstructive and friendly. Will definitely return and recommend others.

Hotel is very nice location, close to the restaurants and night life and in front of the lake. Very very beautiful lake. The buffet is nice and the onsite restaurant is clean and good variety of food.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel as part of our honeymoon in October 2014 and we are very happy with the hotel facilities and the professionalism of employees as we got an upgrade and a bottle of champagne as a gift for our recent wedding and that was much appreciated. The room was spacious, clean and with nice views to the lake and it was very close from the Polynesian Spa, which worth a visit, and Eat Street which provides a wide variety in terms of meals. Good balance price-quality.
