“It was good but...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We stayed at Millennium Rotorua for only one night with a couple of friends.
The stay was pleasant, perfect location, very close to the lake and beautiful view from our room balcony! Breakfast was really good!
However the staff of the hotel is not very professional, except for Tim, the American porter who gave us more useful information compared to the hotel's receptionists!
We booked through the hotel a Maori dinner (really good by the way) that we paid directly at the venue, however the day after, while we were checking out, the hotel's receptionist asked us to pay again for the above mentioned dinner without previously checking it with the organisers. I found it very rude and unprofessional for a 4 star hotel!
They should learn how to welcome new guests!

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay and I apologise for the mix up at Reception with your cultural evening booking. I have spoken with the front desk staff as there should not have been the error that occurred. I'm pleased Tim was of help to you and that you also enjoyed the cultural evening experience and the rest of your stay. Kind Regards.

Front desk staff extremely helpful and go the extra mile also John at front desk was most obliging even made phone calls to help us locate a lost package. Club lounge was excellent worth paying extra to get a good room which was spacious and with excellent amenities. However I wish someone would do something about showers if you are short it is like standing under an umbrella.
Great location the food lets this hotel down, the breakfast downstairs by pool seemed a bit like a hostel.

Thank you for posting your feedback from you recent stay with us and I have noted your comments regarding the shower. I'm pleased to advise we have just refitted the Brasserie Breakfast dining area with warm carpet and new tiled flooring so this has enhanced the whole feel of this area. I hope we see you return again when next down in Rotorua. Best Regards.

* Shower Heads need reviewing... Quality of the stream of water was poor.
* A cleaning Trolley was left siting outside of our door most of one day. The hotel had only few guests at the time so we thought this detracted from the overall impression of the property.

On the plus side there is plenty. It is well worth the cost with large well appointed rooms - ours was looking over the lake and on the 5th floor which gave us wonderful morning views.
Arrival, Check in, Luggage was totally seamless with a very friendly and informative group of Staff. There is a decent pool which you can swim in the year round but I would not call it heated but this does not matter because there are two very large heated Spa Baths inside the Spa/Gym. The Gym itself has a fair range of equipment but the set out could be better as it is a bit dark and poky. This property is just across the road from the Polynesian Spa and a walk into town only takes minutes. To cap it all off the Club Bar is quite intimate and serves a continental breakfast if you book a club room.
WIFI is not free. They do give I think 20Minutes free but after that it has to be paid for.
We had an evening meal at the Hotel Restaurant and it was good quality but there is a terrific range of eating places just up in the town if you want to make the effort to walk or drive up there.

Room Tip: Book a Club Room. Gives you access to the club Bar and is well worth it!

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on Trip Advisor and it was good to see you found the Club rooms with a great view and the Club lounge facilities well worth it. I have noted your comments regarding the shower head and also the trolley in the corridor and will follow up with the respective departments. I hope the rest of your travels have gone wel. Kind Regards.

We upgraded to a lake view room and this was not to disappoint! The hotel is centrally located and easy walking distance to many central Rotorua locations. The restaurant missed a great opportunity with a fake log fire which had poor ambience. The duty managers were very helpful and friendly and made our stay much easier.

It was great to see your stay was made much easier by the helpfulness of our Duty Managers and that you were happy with your lakeview room and the hotel's central location. I have noted your comment regarding our gas log fire in the Restaurant and can advise this was, in previous years a wood fire, but was changed over to gas during the restaurant refit. I hope the rest of your travels went well. Kind Regards.

I had the pleasure of staying at Millennium Rotorua in May 2013 and was so impressed with the stay. The property itself is lovely, airy and well appointed a stone throw from thermal city . The staff were attentive and good, We found John Chetty - Duty Manager to be super friendly and eager to help us get to the mall and other shopping areas plus ensured that we are enjoying our stay and are on right track.

We will be back to do more activities in near future, Thank you John

A three-night stay here was a good choice as part of our NZ holiday, so pats on the back all round.

Reasons to choose this hotel: the location! It's right next to the CBD and Polynesian Spas, and is a short walk to the Rotorua Museum and lakeside walk.

The rooms were more than adequate, the bed was comfy and could have fitted my entire family, and the balcony gave us an extraordinary view of the lake (which smelt a bit like sulphur, but the hotel can hardly be faulted for that). The shower nozzle was a little irritating at times, but this is a minor complaint. All in all, the rooms were very comfortable and a pleasure to stay in.

Special mention goes to some of the staff for going that extra mile to make us comfortable. The first pat on the back goes to Maurie [SIC], who gave us some advice on local attractions and even fished out some discount vouchers for the Polynesian Spas. The second goes to Yuri, the duty manager, for helping us out with booking the attractions and generally being highly professional and courteous. These little extras really go far to make an enjoyable stay! Well done!
