“Great hotel to stay in Rotorua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

We stayed 2 nights in mid March.
The hotel is modern and well located close to the lake and downtown. The room was large, well appointed and a very comfortable bed.
The hotel was full the nights we were there but there was no noise from the hallways or from outside.
The concierge, Norrie, was excellent and exceedingly helpful.
We didn't eat in the hotel as we chose to eat out in restaurants..... including McDonalds which is about the only affordable 'restaurant' in New Zealand.
We would strongly recommend the Millennium Hotel.

Room Tip: Book or ask for a lake view room.

Stayed here for a conference, nice quiet rooms, little bit tired but still perfectly OK. Great service from the staff, especially the concierge. Great pool and sauna, very relaxing after a hard ride down the great MTB tracks nearby.
I'd stay here again happily

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days . The hotel is perfect for being close to all activities. Our room was on the 5th floor with a balcony & good lake views. The room was larger than most other hotels we have stayed in, very clean with all basic necessities. As our flight arrived at 11am am we arrived at the hotel about 12.00pm & were checked into a room straight away. John Chetty greeted us with outmost happy gesture and did a super fast check in and offered us early check in, all the staff were always courteous & helpful.

When we inquired about local activities and attractions with John he put us with several lovely reccommendations which was worthwhile and very enjoyable. He is always available to attend to guests needs as we seen of ouyr stay a6t Millennium Rotorua.

Overall we were very pleased with this hotel & would definitely stay there again.

John Chetty could not have been more helpful when he saw our rather tired and perplexed faces on arriving at the Milennium yesterday. The hotel looks good on line and is rated at 4.5 stars but as a visitor from the UK this does not reach that grade by any means. Mr Chetty was very kind and the room we ended up with had a nice view and was of a good standard but not a great standard. He did however put himself out to make us as happy as possible. The staff are very nice, the food was excellent and the hotel is very clean however the general accomodation is somewhat dated and tired. Position wise it cannot be beaten but don't expect an almost five star!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the room smallish and the air conditioning wasn't very effective. While the room had opening windows it is not practical to open them due to the Rotorua smell. The heated pools and spas were great. It was well located. The restaurant was not up to our standards.

Thank you for posting your review and your comments regarding your comfortable room and that you got to enjoy your own private spa. I'm pleased you found the bar & restaurant excellent and our staff helpful. I apologise that the pool was not available but hope you enjoyed the therapeutic waters at the polynesian Spa. With thanks.

Definitel a tourist hotel, rather than a travellers hotel. Good facilities, though starting to get tired. Pool was shut down when we were there, but they offered free passes to the local spa pool, so the kids were happy. Rooms are clean and comfortable and ours had private jacuzzis which used the local hot, sulphurous spring water (out on a patio so the smell stayed outside), so lots of fun. Good location for wandering around the lake and seeing the local "smelly" sulphur springs or being a general tourist. Reception and staff were helpful. Excellent bar and restaurant in the hotel, but at hotel prices.

Room Tip: Stay in the main hotel and ask for a jacuzzi room if you want to add some fun.

Dissapointed with everything the hotel had to offer. We had booked 2 x lake view club room, there was nothing wrong with the room persa just little things missing - no chairs etc on the balcony, no slippers, only one toothbrush. I feel when paying good money for things these should be expected. My biggest dissapointment came with the "fantastic" club rooms - still waiting to realise what was so fantastic about them - no internet access, complimentary drinks (except the 2 glasses of wine between 5-7) having stayed in numerous club rooms around the world this has to be the worse for value for money and comfort. We are returning to Rotorua in April to celebrate my partners 50th Birthday - I would think twice before staying here....

Thank you for posting your feedback on Trip Advisor and I'm sorry your stay was not what you expected. I have noted your comments regarding items you feel should be included but was surprised that you did not have internet access as we have full Wifi access through all areas of the hotel including our accommodation rooms. With thanks.
