Owner description: The experience of rolling down a hill inside a giant inflatable ball has been an iconic adventure experience since Andrew and David Akers developed the first operation in the world in Rotorua back in 1997. Rotorua remains the ONLY location in New Zealand where you can experience this amazingly fun and bizarre activity. With a new site just 5 minutes from the town centre with a hill that is almost twice as long, you can ride with 1, 2 or 3 people inside the same H2OGO (with warm water in winter or cool water in summer),race against your friends, or try the Harness OGO where you are securely strapped in and sent rolling head over heels through the trees down our custom designed harness track.OR … try our BRAND NEW ride; THE FISHPIPE!A new and unique type of water ride where you slide for over 600 metres! Further than the longest water-slide in the world!Up to 3 riders, 75 litres (20 gallons) of water and a barrel that spins at up to 45 revolutions per minute (although we can slow it right down for the kids and those of you with nervous dispositions.)If you’re riding solo, you can slide, try to run inside, or even try surfing on your feet. With 2 or 3 riders inside you slip and slide together in a tangled mess ... backwards, sideways, frontwards, upside-downwards and whose-foot-is-that-in-my-mouthwards.Open 364 days from 9:00 to 5:00pm in all weather conditions, do not miss out on this unique New Zealand invention. No bookings necessary.

“Biggest con is that it ends so quickly!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Overall a fun time at Ogo Rotorua. Closest zorbing to town. They let you bring your camera so that saves a few bucks over borrowing theirs. We went in the end of the summer season so it was a bit slower which was nice, we were able to chat with the staff more between rides and enjoyed the personal attention we received from Zippy. Also liked the hot tub between rides to stay warm while watching others take a turn. The rides themselves were fun its just too bad they end so quickly! Took one straight track ride which we raced side by side and one sidewinder in which we were able to jump in together which was fun to roll around and constantly giggle. Only discomfort was the zipper, which bruised my husband, and unfortunately on the second ride I think his enjoyment was lessened by making sure we didn't get scraped.

“Amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

I was afraid of beeing disapointed because when I was looking at these balls going down, they looked going quite slow. Actually when you are Inside, you're just feeling upside down!

Then you can relax in a jacuzzi, watching at your friends :)

The only thing that I didn't like is that they ask you 30$ to get pictures of you that they took at the end!! nearly the price of the descent... pictures were for free in all others activities I did in Rotorua...

“Ridiculous, giddy, child-like fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014

Do this. Just do it. Don’t worry about price. Don’t worry about looking silly. Show up, bring a swim suit and towel and do it. You will laugh like a little kid and you’ll have a smile on your face for the rest of the day. The shared sidewinder (two of us sharing an OGO on the more windy track) was our favorite – but know that 1) you will get soaked and 2) you will be tumbling over one another, in case you don’t want to get that close and personal with your travel companion. Hot tub for pre/post ride soaking and hair-dryer equipped changing rooms are a plus. Go with the original inventors and the longer track, go with Ogo.

And good luck when you get home trying to explain this experience to others – photos / video required! (The audio on our video is 80% laugter and 20% water noises when we had so much fun that we completely forgot the camera and dropped it.)

P.S. I wish I had something obtuse to say to spark a funny, spot-on response from Andrew to this review, but everything about our experience was great!

“Very funny, excellent for groups.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014 via mobile

They claim they have one of the biggest tracks. I can't say if it is true but for sure it's a big track. It guarantees a lot of fun. Friendly staff, nice place and good music (yes, it makes the difference). They give you a GoPro to bring with you inside the ball, so you are free to have a nice movie. There is an option that you can go with two more people. It's the funniest way: three people inside the ball is insane. And awesome! In my opinion it's a little bit too expensive. But they have special prices for those who wanna go the second time.

“Lots of fun, wish it was longer...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Loads of fun. We did the sidewinder and the straight downhill, both with water. It was great, albeit over too quickly and that's why I think people feel it's too expensive, but you've got to give these things a go and we're definitely not sorry we tried it at all... in fact will probably do it again.
