This is an excellent place to stop for a hike. The scenery is beautiful and warrants trying the many hikes available. The trails are clearly marked and the visitor's center is very helpful in starting you off. There are hikes available of varying durations, to fit any schedule.

We followed the yellow route, which is just shy of 8km. It was absolutely amazing! The peacefulness and the views were simply breathtaking. Highly recommended!

“Enjoyable afternoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

The Redwoods is a beautiful area to spend an afternoon in. There are many walks of varying difficulties and lengths of time to suit all visitors needs. There are also bike and horse riding trails available. Easy riding distance from Rotorua for those not driving, I grabbed a bike from the hostel to ride out, but not being much of a bike rider I then just hiked whilst I was able to lock the bike at the bike racks outside the information centre. Good day out, especially for those whose budget is getting a little tight as there is no entrance fee.
