“Peaceful, magnificent and free”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

A really pleasant surprise while in Rotorua. There are a range of walks that you can do – ask at the information centre for directions. We chose the 30 minute ‘red’ walk which starts next to the information centre. It is pram friendly – and probably took us about 45 minutes at a casual pace with a three-year old. Some great photo opportunities. And it’s free!

Take water with you on the walk. There are toilet facilities in the car park, a coffee van near the information centre, and a nice gift shop. I think this is a 'must do' in Rotorua! It's just on the edge of the city - and only about 5-10 minutes drive from the town centre.

“Redwood forest Rotorua”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Free and well worth visiting. Easy tracks which are well marked for family of all ages with return times. Avoid buying the $5 map which we thought was overpriced at the information centre. You won't need it.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are really pleased you enjoyed your visit. I am glad you found the track markers easy to follow too. You certainly don't need a map but may prefer to take a map on some of the longer walks or if you go mountain biking. Any profits made from the shop including sales of the maps support the track and facility maintenance.

“A Special Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

We discovered this as we were driving. It was an amazing place, quite big. There were lots of walks and mountain bike tracks. The toilet facilities were clean and open in the evening. Redwood trees are beautiful.

“Serene. Beautiful Forest. Lovely Walk.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Just did a relatively short walk here - maybe 2-3 hours. It was absolutely stunning. I loved it. So peaceful and quiet. Pretty easy walking. Trails were well marked.
