Dear Reviewer,

We’re afraid that our inability to meet and exceed your expectations may in part stem from some cultural confusion. You have compared Sabroso to el Condor – a pizzeria and pasta restaurant in New Plymouth.

The food at Sabroso is prepared with a retro-rustic perspective to Latin American cuisine, reflective of the decades the owner spent growing up in Venezuela and travelling extensively through the Americas, utilizing traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations of Latino families. It is, in most cases, completely different to Italian cuisine.

Whilst our food is well seasoned, in most dishes, we keep the heat level to a minimum to cater for the gentler palate and provide diners with our trio of house made chili sauces, enabling them to personalize their level of heat.

While we know that Latin American food isn’t for everyone, we regret we couldn’t make a convert out of you.

“Delish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We went to Sabroso based on TripAdvisor reviews, and glad we did! Lovely owner, small cosy place, nicely lit, understated, most of all the food was delicious! A good, tasty hearty meal. Chilli chocolate dessert is to die for!

Good yummy food with good service, not too over crowded, reasonable prices. You need to book as they were turning people away on the night

“Excellent cutomer service. Palatable food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

What a neat lil place this is! The room was fully packed when we went in and were told that it could take ages to be served. We chose an outdoor seating and even though the place wasfully jammed the nice lady was with us in few mins to take our order and back in few mins with our order!
We had our lil one along and even though she couldnt have the food we were having she still looked relaxed( we had some prepared food for her due to her dietary restrictions).
The lady was helpful in selecting/filtering menu for us as we are vegetarians and thankfully custom made the food for us by omitting non-veg ingredients. Thank god we found this place. It was a great way to end our night in rotorua!
Highly recommended.

“Sabroso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Read the reviews and booked. We weren't dissappointed. We don't often have Mexican food and we really enjoyed the experience. Good atmosphere, buzzing with conversation. Great variety on the menu and we were spoilt for choice. Good food, huge portions and good service. Good advice about the sauces: flame thrower really took your head off - numbing the tounge!
