“Great entertainment from coach driver!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

Was 2nd time I went to see the show, first time was 10 yrs ago. The show this time was almost the same except the show was a lil bit of a chaos, nothing major and if you weren't from here you wouldnt have seen the difference. Stay sharp! Hangi was subliem and enjoyed it a lot. Thank for great evening with lots of culture. Very funny coach driver, great entertainer!

“Great haka and entertainment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2012

I need to commend the energy of the Maori participants. The guide we had made the group feel his pride in his culture when he participated in the demonstration, songs and explanations of the hangi. This energy was a little unexpected on my part and I am very glad to have attended.

“An enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2011

I was here on 30th April. Had a wonderful evening sharing stories with other travelers over dinner, which is buffet style and includes items cooked in the traditional Maori method of hangi. The performance and various dances were enjoyable. A good way to learn more about Maori culture.

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2010

Got the ticket for this concert/hangi under the hotdeals available at the local isite. Package for this was getting a free voucher for Paradise Valley Springs park. Free pick up to the venue just beside Novotel. Doors open at 630pm and we were served by the lovely couple. Bread and butter avaialble for snacks before viewing of how the traditional maori food was cooked. Buffet for 1 hour before performance for another hour. Food was traditional maori food which was not bad. We enjoyed the performance very much, the singing and dancing. We also joined the poi and huka dance and it was fun. Overall, it's enjoyable for a light evening of learning more about the maori culture.

“Great cultural experience... and food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2010

My friend and I went to Matakiri on the advice of our hostel manager and he wasn't wrong - it was a great night! We learnt a lot about NZ Maori culture and also the wildlife via the sanctuary next door where we saw real live Kiwis. The only downside was waiting so long for food - you watch the show and do the wildlife tour before eating so you eat quite late, so make sure you have a late snack before getting there. Worth the wait because it was delicious!
