A great motel.. Only few metres walk to a large ange of restaurants, shops and ferry trips. Rooms very clean, large and light and airy. The owners make you feel very welcome, even carrying our bags to our room.
Will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Unit 1 at the end of blok with a large balcony. Unit 7 has 2 b/rooms, private balcony overlooking...

Walked in off the street looking for two rooms. The owner greeted us and showed the two rooms which were good. Very friendly welcome with a lot of info provided. Both rooms clean and fresh, linen towels good but no heating. Electric fans had to be plugged in.
The following morning the owner allowed us to park for the day at no charge

A delightful motel, with friendly, helpful hosts. We stayed in the highest room, with great views over the bay, and a large balcony to sit out and enjoy the sights. Good location just behind the main street, comfortable bed, huge bathroom - what more could you need?

Room Tip: Room 8. Owners will help carry your bags.

The hosts were lovely! They even carried our bags up a couple of flights of stairs to the unit, and offered to bring them down in the morning.

The 2 bedroom unit had views from all rooms - kitchen, lounge and 2 bedrooms it was well positioned. I booked this unit on the internet cheap and it meet my expectations. It was clean and accomadated us all (5 adults and an 8 month old).

It was also a easy walk to the main street and wharf which was great. It was definitely value for money and clean - no complaints from me!

We stayed in the penthouse studio which has a lovely covered deck facing out to the sea.
Although you have to walk up a few steps, the view is worth it. The kitchen is minimally equipped and as there is no kitchen sink, dishes must be done in the bathroom. However it is just a short walk to a large selection of waterfront restaurants.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2011

We enjoyed our recent 4 nights in a 2 bedroom unit. The unit was very spacious and looked like it has been recently renovated. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils though the fridge freezer was very small and there is only a 2 burner hotplate but is adequate with the electric fry pan and microwave. In our 2 week travel this motel unit was the first to have a saucepan bigger enough (just) to cook pasta or rice for 4 people.. The motel is in an excellent location, one street back from the water and just a short walk from the main shopping area and wharf and a slightly longer walk to a swimming beach. Whilst there are buildings in front you are up high enough to have an excellent view across the bay especially when sitting at the table or on the balcony. The only negatives were the car parking is very tight and the laundry is only open until 6pm .

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2011

I can only comment on our "unit" which was in an old house behind the (apparently newer) units in front of it. The house has been converted into 3 "units" - we were in a 2-bedroom unit below the two others. There is absoluelty no sound proofing in the house so even the slightest noise can be heard. We had a bad night's sleep from the noise in the above units and were woken early by one lot leaving at 6.30am. Any noise outside in the surrounding houses and motels can also be heard quite clearly. The beds were too soft and uncomfortable. The decor and interior fixtures and fittings are all very old and worn (in keeping with the age of the house); the bathroom is average with a very poor shower. The owner and website boast a view of the bay (inner Bay of Islands) from this unit but it is obstructed by the rooves of all the units and other motels in front of it - it is disappointing. The charge of NZ$250 a night for 4 adults is excessive for this unit relative to other motels in Paihia. We were booked for 2 nights but moved out after one night to a better, cheaper motel - the Aarangi Tui Motel

I felt I did need to respond to this review. The person mentions the decor fixtures and fittings are all very old and worn, this is interesting as we have just rewallpapered, put brand new carpet, blinds throughout this unit, new lino, brand new white kitchen unit, 2 brand new sleepyhead singles beds (approx 1 month old) the queen is not so new, halogen bedside lamps, this is just to mention some of the refurb. The bathroom is not yet done. Paihia on a Friday night in the middle of summer, we can not help people talking outside their units. The view from this unit looks right across to Russell and you can see the ships when they are in. Our web page is in the process of being updated and unfortunatelynot all of the new view photos are not on it yet. I apologised to this customer about the noise (first complaint we had) and felt I did all I could.
Customer satisfaction is what we concentrate on and as you see other reviews have been great.
