We stayed in Paihia for three nights and had pre-booked a two-bedroom apartment in Nautilus. The hotel is well located for exploring Paihia, but having a car is quite necessary as it is not close to any other place than the supermarket next door. Our apartment had two single beds, one double and a bedsofa in the living room. Some noise from cars accelerating on Puketona Road. The "resort" is a little bit faded already and could do with a facelift.
The apartment comes with a small kitchenette enough for basic cooking. No dishwasher or washing machines in the apartment but there is one machine and tumbler next to the reception. Pay 4 dollars for washing and 4 for tumbling.
There is a tennis court, small pool with cold water, barbequeue area, a jaccuzi and some sunbathing chairs in the resort. No problems parking.
A nice surprise was the Northland DVD in our room. It was good to watch it for inspiration. The children also appreciated a vast selection of free boardgames to be borrowed from the reception. Service in the reception was good and they had of course a lot of information to provide about the sights and activities in the area.
Room Tip: For families with children, the board games in the reception will help arrange activities when you a...

Hi and thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property, we always appreciate feedback. We wouldn't necessarily agree that you need a car to get around Paihia, our motel is a very easy and pleasant 10min stroll along the beachfront to the centre of town and access to all the facilities and tours available in the area. We are 200m from the best beach in the area and a 10min stroll to the Waitangi Treaty grounds, the majority of our guests seem to love our location. You stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a king sized bed in the master bedroom, two single beds in the second bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge area. You are correct in saying that the apartment you stayed in needs a facelift, it is one of three remaining apartments that remain to be redecorated over the next couple of months, and this is reflected in our pricing structure. The apartment though still has all the same facilities of our other two bedroom apartments; 40" flat screen TV with 10 channels available, blue-ray DVD player, seperate TV in the master bedroom, corner spa bath, ceramic cooktop, microwave, fridge and a host of other features.
We were sorry that you felt our 16m swimming pool was both small and cold at 26 degrees C, you would struggle to find a larger facility in any other motel in Paihia. We recognise of course that in Singapore pools may be warmer than here.
In terms of road noise, there tends to be some where ever you stay at New Year in a tourist destination like Paihia, there are many thousands of people visiting at this time.
We are very happy however that you enjoyed our selection of boardgames, they are a popular addition we are proud to provide.
Looking at the other reviews you wrote of visits you made whilst in the Paihia area it would seem that you have had better holidays and for that we are sorry. We hope that you will come back to our region again in the near future as it has much to offer the international traveller.
Thank you again for taking the time to post a review.
