“A very nice accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

We are a family of 8 and stayed in 3 different units. Very impressive interiors, clean rooms, and comfortable beds. The location is only a few minutes walk to the shops. Nice view and quiet. Having Sky Channels and Wifi is a plus. We forgot the SD Card that was put into one of their TVs and they send it to me right away. The owner Ken and Lyn are very helpful and friendly.

As our stay was during winter , when I inquired I asked if they had a winter rate.
This was given at $100. This was for a Garden Studio Suite as requested. We were given Room 16 which as another reviewer mentioned is tucked away in a corner without views etc. We were happy with this as we asked for a special rate and were only staying for one night. The room was very quiet and the bathroom was spacious. Shower pressure was wonderful, bed was comfy, I don't like heat pumps but it did the job of keeping us warm. Our only gripe were the cold tiles on the floor. A mat perhaps by the bed would be great to stop the shock of putting your feet on cold tiles. I would stay again but next time take some slippers if it is in winter:)

Room Tip: Room 16 is great if your not a tourist, just needing a nice clean, quiet place to stay. Close to eat...

We decided that for our 20th wedding anniversary we needed a place with a fabulous view, good internal design (I am a graphic designer) a kitchen and a short walk to shops and restaurants. Being the off-season, we did not book in advance because I like to see (and smell) the room before booking (I have allergies to mold and certain flowers). One look/smell and I said "yes."

New Zealand is big on beautiful views but sometimes it's the little things that get left out on service. This is no big deal to NZ locals, as it is truly what is outside (the hotel) that counts. And Paihia has everything you want: beautiful islands off the shore, calm waters, dolphins, ferry rides, waterfalls, and great restaurants. We even drove all the way to Cape Reinga and back one day. And although I am a citizen of NZ, I am still an American somewhere underneath.

This hotel feeds both my Kiwi need for outdoor beauty/adventure and my American need for upscale, service, and beautifully designed indoors. I could not have been happier. And it was truly Kiwi design at it's best.

It's the little things that count. Like room service doing the dishes. And the big fluffy towels. A bed that is so comfortable and sheets so soft we slept in most days. Good colour plan and layout. A proper heat pump and air conditioner. Clean, clean, clean room. New carpet, drapes, fittings (or 2 years new). Even a throw blanket right where I would have kept it at home. Perfect.

At the end of our 4 day stay, we slept in (again) and later got a ring, "Would you like to stay another night?" We did but it was time to return to our normal world in Auckland. But I will be back. And next time I will bring our kids (8) and (10). Because the 1 bedroom was big enough for our whole family of 4 (couch folds out to queen).

Great place. Well done.

We didn't get a room with a view, but there is no view at night. The room (16) is very
quiet. No rooms above you or backing on to any walls. Very clean, good bed, nice little kitchen, shower OK. Only one minor point - the tiled floor was very cold, would have been good to have a rug either side of the bed.

Hi Lord K

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience in our studio unit (16). A wonderful quiet room nestled against the native bush. Thanks for your suggestion on the rugs - we have now added 3 large shaggy rugs to the unit. So with the heatpump and the rugs you are certain of a snug night!

Kind Regards
Ken and Lyn

Beautiful views. Friendly hosts. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely bathroom with excellent shower. Room cleaned daily. Quiet location. Close to wharf. No issues with road noise, despite close location. We certainly got what we paid for.

This was an excellent place to begin our visit to New Zealand. We had a great room, with a great view. The motel is walking distance to several good restaurants - we had ribs one night and Thai food the next as well as a great coffee shop (upstairs) that served the best flat white of our entire stay. It is a short drive to the Maori treaty grounds and you can easily get to Russell either by passenger or car ferry

We just loved this hotel, had a beautiful view of the beach and water, saw the sun go down and come up again...

Walking distance to pubs, restaurants, takeaway, convenience stores, wharf to Russell and all the amentities needed locally, walking distance to Waitangi as well.

The rooms are tastefully modern in décor, with very comfortable beds and up to date furnishings, the kitchenette was very well fitted out with all the necessary bit and pieces.

The bathroom was great and the shower very good, nice toiletries and fluffy towels.

We also enjoyed a great Spa pool, private, clean and hot!

The Management were friendly and very welcoming, offered a Continental breakfast but we
were leaving early in the morning, so declined.

Very good value for money and over the summer, if you want somewhere nice to stay on
Paihia waterfront, highly recommend this establishment but suggest you book early to
avoid disappointment.

Room Tip: Rooms on the seaside are the best, the rangesliders are sound proof so no noise at night, ask for a...
