“Great location, amazing views on full moon over the bay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

Terrific location with stunning water views back across to town of Russell over the bay. Close to all restaurants 2 mins walk and also to wharf for ferry and boat trips. When you walk into the room the views are truly stunning. Modern room, well appointed and very comfortable, great bathroom and shower. Nice verandah (albeit a bit noisy with traffic at times) has fantastic views across the bay, very special. Ken was very welcoming and particularly helpful with weather checks for planning golf, very accommodating to meet our needs.

Room Tip: Pick upper front for best views, traffic only issue late afternoon for a little while

After 2 nights in a cramped Auckland hotel room, our 1 bedroom unit at Breakwater was total bliss! From the modern, clean and spacious surrounds and the very comfy bed, to helpful hints from Ken and Lyn I cannot recommend this motel highly enough. Located at the far end of the street, it was lovely and quiet, but only a short walk to shops, restaurants and the ferry. We also took advantage of the book exchange in the guest laundry...a great idea. Very impressed overall, would spend the little extra and try a front room with a view next time :) Highly recommended.

It was a minor accident but not welcome on our first day in New Zealand. Pulling into this motel cheered us up instantly. The room is beautiful, super clean, well-equipped, and spacious. I don't spend enough time in a room to pay for views but these look like they'd be worth it. Great location too-easy walking to restaurants etc but quiet and peaceful too.

Hi lovestotravel, thanks for taking the time out of your holiday to review Breakwater Motel.
Others have also mentioned the quiet location we have at this end of town and still be so close to all the action as well. We enjoy our guests and we are blessed with getting nice ones to stay.
Please come back and visit again one day.

I stayed here with my sister, my aunt and uncle chose this motel, and i have to say they have great taste in choice. Ken and Lyn were fantastic, the apartment was immaculate and clean and the bed was very comfortable, everything we needed was there and Ken and Lyn was so helpful at all times. I would fully recommend this Motel it was to the highest standard, friendly and we loved every minute of our stay.......we were given lots of great information about excurtions, and Lyn was on the phone booking it for us too, so we had all the hard work taken care of for us.....great what more could you ask for, would love to have had our aunt with us but due to ill health couldn't stay, but we still had an amazing time, we also found a ladies purse and handed it in to Lyn and she was great trying to trace the owner, the owner was found and Lyn and Ken then told us we had a nice gift in our fridge, a huge crayfish was waiting for us, we didn't have a clue what to do with it, and Ken was great he cut it open for us and we then enjoyed a wonderful meal.....if there was 10 stars I would rate it a ten.....ps try the spa, it definitely was relaxing......

Room Tip: we had room 25 which had a great view........but this was chosen by our auntie, love her to bits for...

If you travel to Paihia NZ, be sure to stay at the Breakwater Motel, occupying a very convenient location at the far end of the front. A couple of steps and you're on the beach, or, if you're up early enough, a spot on the bench overlooking the Bay of Islands to share a coffee with Ken and Lyn. In fact, the weather was so good that staying in bed after 06.00 just wasn't an option. The location is also perfect for some very good local eateries. The property is immaculate. Every facility you could want. Ken was full of good advice as where to eat. Try Tito's for a great night. We left Paihia reluctantly.

Room Tip: Ground floor facing the sea.

Hi Tony, thanks for the fantastic review,
Our location is a great asset, closest to the beach and a nice quiet corner of town.
Some guests do join us for coffee early in the morning on the beach and we get quite a number chatting there first thing!
We were sorry to see you go too but please come back to our piece of paradise soon.
Cheers

We were greeted by Ken, our very friendly host, who showed us to our recently refurbished unit. This contained very good quality furnishings and was very clean. The large living/kitchen area, with settee and Sky TV contained all we needed for our stay. The separate bedroom contained a very comfortable king size bed with quality linen and second TV.
Location at the quiet end of town was superb. Even though our room was located on the upper floor of the rear block of units at the off street end, the view from the balcony provided a great panorama, extending from Motumaire Island around the bay to the ferry jetty. The jetty and major restaurants were a 200m walk and the Waitangi Treaty Grounds a five minute drive away. There is a large supermarket close by.
Ken was very helpful in providing advice on what to see and do in the area and where to eat and drink. Free wifi was a bonus. We did not try the spa or BBQ area.
The motel actively promotes recycling, with separate bins provided near the BBQ area for paper/cardboard, different coloured glass and general waste.
I would return for the room size, cleanliness and location.

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear block have less traffic noise but still have good partial views.

Hi Gregfw, thank you for the extensive review.
Being at the quiet end of town is certainly a bonus as you found. Thanks for mentioning the panaramic views, they are to die for. Would be the best from any Motel in town.
We try to do our bit for the planet with our recycling efforts, the signs have helped our guests to get it right too.
Thanks for choosing us and the Bay for your holiday experience and we would love to see you again some time.

The Breakwater is in an excellent location. Close to the town and overlooking the harbour. The manager is very friendly. Our apartment is clearly new with a lovely kitchen and bathroom. The furnishings and bedding are excellent. All apartment balconies can see the harbour.
