We booked at the last minute using wotif and got the last cabin, a 2 bedroom right on the carpark. It was a lovely room. They are small and ours didn't have room for more than beds and a wee kitchen, but the deck is a good size and had a lovely view across the valley.
The advantage of it was it is quiet in a town that isn't at that time of year (28th Dec - 1 Jan) and the location is brilliant for walking to the shops, the beach, the ferry and anything else you need. For little kids the school across the road has great playgrounds too.
They have a great range of games, and we had lots of fun with those, and DVD's, but no Sky TV. I think the room would have been too small for a family with teenagers if the weather had been bad and we had been stuck inside though.
When we arrived and I advised of our travel plans (unplanned for the week of New Year) Belinda helpfully warned me of the local drought (weather was awesome, hot and sunny every day) and that accommodation was scarce and pencil booked us for another two nights just in case. This was excellent advice. The town was packed and we stayed at the busiest time.
She told us about the New Years Eve fireworks which were a great way to see in the New Year with the kids, and oddly all the towns restaurants were pretty empty so we had no trouble getting a nice meal. Other nights tho', they were packed so go early if you have kids too feed.
She also warned us about the setting sun heating our room, so we left the curtains shut with the fan on and locked our room door but left the windows open and she said they were home all the time so would keep an eye. This was very helpful as it was a warm and sunny room.
Great location, good rooms, I'd go there again as long as the price was right. If others with sea views and pools were cheaper, I'd possibly try them.
