“Our Holiday Very Relaxing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We stayed at Harura Falls Resort for 3 nights in November 2012 and had a great time. Thanks to Jan and the staff. They were there to make sure the stay was great with a great view from the room.
All bus bookings were made for activities and a nice friendly restaurant & bar. Would stay there again whenever we come back to holiday. Had a great time also with Ollie the dog.

Pre-booked one winter night for a reasonable tariff as a convenient base from which to explore Paihia and Russell en route south. We had a clean comfortable warm roomy end-unit with separate kitchen and parking at the door. The view of the falls from our room was fabulous and although chilly, it was possible to sit outside undercover on chairs provided and take in the full sound and sight by moonlight. It was exhilarating to get up close to the falls in a short easy walk from the resort. Enjoyed personal friendly service as only a few guests in at that time, several of whom, like us, appreciated the pet-friendly staff hospitality and helpfulness regarding local information. A minor disappointment to find on arrival that restaurant closed for the season with only pizza delivery available which was not advised at our time of booking. This however didn't detract from our initial pleasant experience as plenty of Paihia eat-out places to choose from so we spontaneously booked in for an extra night - and for a discount! Happy to stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view of the falls!! from your room

thank you Jan for making our holiday so relaxed and laid back! Loved the camping and the grounds were immaculate, the staff friendly and welcoming and very helpful with local activities and drive times etc. Olly the camp dog is a wee sweetie and we loved having him come visit our tents each day and playing with him on the grounds! Now for the dreaded review!!! overall, an extremely pleasing stay, clean, safe, peaceful, facilities NOT DIRTY OR FILTHY as told by some.
Drinking water was so lovely, very fresh and clean(spring water). Access to town and nearby locations was perfect and the no rush, laid back atmosphere was a welcome relief after a long day exploring.
Fantastic Jan and team, keep it up and good luck with the future endeavours.

We recently stayed for 5 nights in a unit at the resort after having travelled around the north isalnd in a motorhome for 2 weeks. Our room was extremely well appointed with all the necessities in place to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable and provided a very good nights sleep. The best part was being almost on the banks of the Waitangi River overlooking the Haruru Falls......very relaxing and wonderful to just sit and watch! The resort also has a fully licenced well stocked bar and the owner Jan is only too happy to have a chat and provide lots of information about the local area and point you in the right direction with any queries that you may have. It was nice to be a bit out of Paihia away from the touristy hustle and bustle. We would highly recommend a stay at the resort for anyone wanting a lovely setting - good facilities (especially for families) and good value for money.

Had to leave a review for this place... Me and my girlfriend had been traveling in a van/camper and decided it was time to get a simple motel room to have a good shower and organise our stuff. We were randomly reccomended this place by a ranger in paihia. Had no idea what we were in for! Such an awesome location on the riverbed right in front of Haruru falls. The garden was beautiful, while it was too cold for a swim, the pool looked awesom and tempting! The lady, I think Jan, was real friendly, laidback and very informative. The rooms were very clean. We did not want to leave. If we had more time I could easily stay for weeks....

We stayed here last week in a campervan, we found some aspects of the venue were good - the cold water pool here is large and well kept; there is a 24/7 view to the water falls that are a 2 metres drop for the water over a width of around 40 metres; that is all fine, Haruru Falls look good; there are several units here and caravan / tents sites. The bad parts - the toilets stink , the urinals fail to work , the kitchens has shelves with an array of dead bugs collected over a few days or a week . The televion was another benefit of this place mentioned in the advert , the kids were looking forward to that - forget it, the motel manager says no, she is watching a different channel .... the place looks good , but wet , poorly run, low quality muddy driveway, . Glad to leave
